Summary of Major Responsibilities The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) at Prosperous Health San Diego supports high-quality, patient-centered care by assisting with clinical and administrative workflows in a fast-paced behavioral health and integrated care environment. Reporting to the Office Manager, the CMA helps ensure efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, timely coordination of services, and a professional, welcoming patient experience. Detailed Duty Statement Prepare patients for visits by escorting them to exam rooms, obtaining and documenting vital signs, and gathering relevant clinical information as directed. Support providers and clinical staff during patient visits, including setting up rooms, assisting with procedures within scope, and ensuring patient comfort and safety. Perform phlebotomy and/or specimen collection as applicable to training, certification, and clinic protocol; label, process, and prepare specimens for transport or testing per established procedures. Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) and ensure required forms and clinical records are complete and properly filed. Coordinate patient scheduling, appointment confirmations, and follow-up needs in collaboration with front office staff and clinical team members. Manage inbound/outbound patient communication (phone, portal, in-person) with professionalism, discretion, and HIPAA compliance. Maintain exam rooms and clinical areas, including stocking supplies, cleaning/disinfecting surfaces and equipment, and following infection control standards. Monitor inventory of clinical and medical supplies; communicate needs and assist with ordering/restocking as directed. Support quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives related to patient experience, documentation accuracy, and clinic workflow efficiency. Maintain current knowledge of clinic policies, safety procedures, and best practices for medical assisting. And other duties as assigned. Qualifications Needed High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred. Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required (or equivalent credential as accepted by the organization). 1–2 years of experience in a clinical/medical office setting preferred (behavioral health, primary care, or integrated care a plus). Experience with EHR systems and strong comfort with clinical documentation and administrative workflows. Knowledge of HIPAA, infection control standards, and basic clinical safety practices. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and maintain attention to detail. Professional, patient-centered communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across a multidisciplinary team.
