Crime and Intelligence AnalystThe County of San Diego is currently accepting applications for a Crime and Intelligence Analyst.The starting salary for this position will be based on the candidate's qualifications at the time of appointment.Future Salary IncreasesJune 2026 – 4.49% increase to base pay (3.00% Across-the-Board + 1.49% Market Adjustment)June 2027 – 4.49% increase to base pay (3.00% Across-the-Board + 1.49% Market Adjustment)The Crime & Intelligence Analyst classification is used in both the Sheriff's Office and the District Attorney's office. Crime & Intelligence Analysts compile, independently analyze, evaluate, correlate, and disseminate crime data, crime reports, and other criminal intelligence information provided by local, State, and Federal law enforcement agencies relative to general criminal activities.Minimum QualificationsA bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in criminal justice, public administration, business administration, or a closely related field, AND two (2) years of full time experience in a Crime Analysis Unit, Crime Prevention Unit, or Law Enforcement Unit in the collection, analysis, and presentation of complex crime data; OR,An associate's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency AND a certificate in crime and/or intelligence analysis or related field, AND three (3) years of full time experience in a Crime Analysis Unit, Crime Prevention Unit, or Law Enforcement Unit in the collection, analysis, and presentation of complex crime data.Note: Additional years of experience as described above may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis. A master's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in any of the fields described above may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.Condition of EmploymentAs part of the County of San Diego's pre-employment process, prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment.
