The Dental Assistant (part-time)Faculty Practice provides assistance to patients, faculty and staff inthe School of Dentistry. Provides instruction to patients in accordancewith the Clinic Operations Manual and standards of care in Dentistry.Duties and Responsibilities Provide clinical dental assistance todentists before, during and after treatment of patients including dentalemergencies. Assist faculty with compliance to record keeping protocolsrelated to the treatment of patients. Maintain and monitor acceptedpractices and care of dental equipment, instruments and supplies perMUSOD standards and regulatory group requirements. Distribute, assistand monitor instrument and equipment management and case cart system.Coordinate the repair and maintenance of dental equipment. Provideclerical functions of a dental office including answering phones,scheduling appointments and handling patient records and other computerrelated duties. Attend in-service programs, dental assistant meetingsand other various committee meetings as required. Perform any and allrelated duties as required or assigned by the supervisor. RequiredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities High School education plus one year ofDental Assistant Experience Required Including Knowledge Of Dentalterminology and anatomy; regulator agency requirements; 4-handeddentistry; instrumentation; impression materials and cements; x-raytechnology and procedures; sterilization procedures; patient managementtechniques; and Health-Care Provider CPR . Dexterity and ability totolerate long periods of bending, standing and walking Strong verbal andwritten communication skills Basic computer skills Excellent customerservice skills, listening skills, discretion, and flexibility Ability towork and communicate with people from a diverse population Ability towork independently with little supervision and frequent interruptions inan environment that can be fast-paced.
