SAN GABRIEL VALLEY CONSERVATION CORPS 10900 Mulhall Street El Monte, CA. 91731 Phone (626) 655-0015 www.sgvcorps.org Title: Program Coordinator Position Status: Part-time Compensation: $20 - $25 per hour (DOE) Organization Background The mission of the San Gabriel Valley Conservation Corps (SGVCC) is to develop and transform disadvantaged youth in the San Gabriel Valley by providing academic, vocational, and leadership development while also employing them to provide valuable services to improve their communities and the natural environment. For the last 19 years SGVCC has been providing valuable services to youth, disadvantaged communities, and our environment. Job readiness programming and conservation projects that enhances and beautifies our surroundings builds self-efficacy and confidence amongst participants. SGVCC provides support and helps youth develop values, character, motivation, and life skills necessary to succeed in life. Support includes job training, case management, and educational opportunities for youth to earn a high school diploma. SUMMARY OF POSITION: The program coordinator will play a vital role in program coordination and overall support of the SGVCC La Puente Youth Workforce Development Program. The program is a 14–16-month program for youth in the city of La Puente to receive paid job-training and project implementation that will beautify and support city goals. The coordinator will assume primary responsibility for ensuring program events/ activities are in line with overall goals, objectives, deliverables, ensuring participants’ reach their milestones. The coordinator will maintain and prepare applicable program/project schedules, meeting materials, training materials, and agendas; which may include tracking deadlines, deliverables, communication with management and/or stakeholders. He/ she will interface regularly with other departments, staff, city staff, and any other program partners. Essential Functions: Supervise daily operations, including direct services, case management, administration, and record keeping. Supervise, assign, instruct, and assist program training goals. Prepares monthly program reports and statistics. Assist case management and program services. Assist in identifying barriers and develop strategies to accomplish goals. Resolves problems encountered by program and staff. Prepares budgets and program narratives. Represents program at various agency and community meetings. Evaluates and monitors training program sessions. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: One to three years of related experience. Communicate effectively in written and oral form. Experience with workforce development preferred. Must have experience working with youth. Ability to take initiative and work under pressure. Experience with developing vocational skills. Strong organizational and case management skills. Willingness to be a team-player. Must have transportation, valid driver’s license with clean driving record and current car insurance. Highly self-motivated and adaptable, with ability to effectively prioritize, manage, and execute multiple projects in a fast-paced collaborative environment, while meeting tight deadlines and multi-tasking. Have proven experience in cross functional leadership and with the ability to motivate other team members. Ability to connect with others and forge strong relationships. Creative Skills preferred. Committed to the mission of serving at risk youth and helping them to experience the environment. Ability to organize and maintain detailed records; complete necessary paperwork and meet deadlines. English and Spanish speaking is preferred.
