The ideal candidate will embrace our vision to be a welcoming church family rooted in Scripture and shaped by God's grace, growing as disciples who love deeply, serve faithfully, and courageously share the hope of Christ.We are seeking a pastor who is:A man of prayer and personal holiness, humble, relational, approachable, and compassionateA shepherd who loves people and desires to know the flock personallyA leader who equips others for ministry while sharing church oversight within a team of elders, not a solo performerA preacher who brings clarity, conviction, and warmth to expositional teachingA visionary who can joyfully lead us in living out our calling to discipleship, worship, evangelism, and community lifeRelational & Ministry StrengthsThe pastor should be gifted in:Expositional preaching that engages both heart and mindPastoral care, which includes visiting, counseling, and praying with individuals and familiesLeadership development to recruit, equip and mentor elders, deacons, and teachersEvangelistic encouragement to help people confidently share their faithCommunity-building that fosters a warm, welcoming church family of mature believersTeam-based ministry through collaboration with staff, lay leaders, and volunteersPrimary ResponsibilitiesPreaching & TeachingPreach expositional, Christ-centered sermons weeklyOversee the doctrinal integrity of all church teachingProvide instruction through classes, studies, or training as neededSupport discipleship efforts involving Sunday School, AWANA, youth, and adult ministriesPastoral ShepherdingProvide spiritual care to members through visitation, counseling, and prayerLead by example in personal godliness, humility, and loveAdministers the ordinances of the Lord's Supper and Baptism, conducts weddings, funerals, and other pastoral dutiesEncourage and participate in a culture of hospitality, genuine relationships, and church unityLeadership & VisionGuide the church in living out its mission and vision (We Do Everything in Christ)Foster maturity through mentoring and collaboration with elders, deacons, and ministry leaders in planning and decision-makingSupport pathways for future discipleship, leadership development, and volunteer engagementPromote faithful stewardship of church resourcesEvangelism & MissionsEquip members to share their testimony and the Gospel clearlyEncourage participation in local and global mission effortsSupport existing mission partnerships (Dominican Republic, Africa, South America)Foster outreach events and community engagement opportunitiesAdministration & Staff OversightProvide leadership and guidance to church staff (Children's Ministries, Office, WEE School, etc.)Work with committees and ministry teams as neededEnsure clear communication throughout the church familyQualificationsRequired:Clear testimony of faith in Christ and a life marked by spiritual maturityExhibits the biblical qualifications of an elderAgreement with the 1689 Baptist Confession of FaithExperience and formal training in pastoral ministryStrong communication skillsPreferred:Master of Divinity (or equivalent theological training)Experience in multi-generational ministrySkill in mentoring, discipleship, and leadership developmentAbility to work effectively with volunteers and staffTo apply, contact pastorsearch@gbcpapillion.orgJ-18808-Ljbffr
