LAB TECH

Employee must be able to operate within analytical/scientific method or standard operating procedures required by Safe Drinking Water and Clean Water Acts. Must apply experience and skills to calibrate equipment, analyze samples and generate reports required for Drinking Water permit and Laboratory Certification from South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Controls (SCDHEC). Employee is expected to work in a team environment with limited degree of supervision and communicate effectively and professionally. Essential Job Tasks: Responsible for processing samples from the Lake Moultrie and Lake Marion Plants. Coordinates with outside laboratories to perform additional water quality testing as required. Completes check chemistry with an expectation of high performance as indicated by little to no errors. Assists with compliance audits. Works in collaboration with plant operators and reviews daily operating logs to ensure samples are completed, analyzed and reported properly. Coordinates all required proficiency testing (PT) for both water systems. Prepares required reports including but not limited to Monthly Operating Report, SARA report and Monthly Billing Report. Submits reports for review before the required submittal date. Ensures all reports are scanned into ECM after review. Coordinates purchasing activities for both water systems including bulk chemicals, laboratory and office supplies as well assisting Operations and Maintenance teams with purchases. Coordinates environmental management functions including hazardous & non-hazardous Waste and recycling. Oversees and ensures proper recycling to ensure SCEEP membership and recycling goal is maintained. Obtains and maintains at least a B Water Treatment license and demonstrate operational proficiency to assist operations as needed. Completes all mandated training within required time frame. Assists with training of more junior personnel. Promotes an environment of safety at the water systems, report all safety concerns and perform safety audits. *Will consider Lab Tech A, B or C Position Requirements: Lab Technician A Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or other related scientific field from an accredited university + 1 year experience, Associate's Degree + 3 years experience or High School Diploma/GED + 5 years experience required. Compensation Information: $33.35 - $41.65 (min. - mid.) Lab Technician B Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or other related scientific field from an accredited university, Associate's Degree + 1 years experience or High School Diploma/GED + 2 years experience required. Compensation Information: $27.00 - $33.75 (min. - mid.) Lab Technician C High School Diploma/GED required. Compensation Information: $22.00 - $27.40 (min. - mid.)
