Under the leadership of full-time City event planners, this position will assist in the production of various community and regional events through the year.Hours for these positions will vary throughout the year, with some weeks being 15 or more hours and some weeks where there are no events, and therefore, no hours. The successful candidate must have flexibility to work a variety of hours/days, including weekdays (particularly Thursdays), weekends, evenings, and occasional holidays.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssists in the production of local community events including the Cowboy Festival, 4th of July Fireworks, monthly Senses block parties, monthly Celebrate cultural series, Concerts in the Park, and many othersPerforms a variety of equipment set up by securing cords or banners to fixtures, setting large equipment pieces such as truss, stage, canopies, and dance floors, and placing tables and chairs for event booths and audiencesOperates City vehicles to load or unload, transport and deliver equipment to various worksitesOrganizes warehouse and takes inventory of event supplies and equipmentProvides customer service to event attendees and the general public including providing accurate information to event attendees and working event boothsProvides technical assistance for stage lighting and sound for various events, as neededPerform traffic control and flagging at special eventsPerforms other duties as assigned by Arts and Events Coordinator and/or SupervisorEducation and ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED equivalentOne year of experience in event organization, recreation, or other related experienceA valid Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation to carry out job-related essential functions is highly desirablePrior event production and lighting/sound equipment experience is highly desirableAny combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary will be consideredKnowledge and AbilitiesPositive, team-oriented, self-motivated, and enthusiasticAbility to communicate effectively and positively, both orally and in writingStrong team player and the ability to work both independently and as part of agroupAbility to maintain professionalism and exhibit good judgement in difficult situationsStrong work ethic, proactive, and the ability to learn quicklyCreative problem-solving skillsAbility to safely operate City vehicles to load, unload, transport, and deliver equipment to various event sitesAbility to organize and maintain inventory of event supplies and equipment within a warehouse settingAbility to perform traffic control and flagging duties in compliance with safety procedures during special eventsAbility to organize and prioritize a variety of tasks in an effective and timely mannerAbility to follow proper safety protocol and pay strict attention to safety at all timesAbility to work various hours, including nights and weekendsAbility to lift, drag, and push files and equipment weighting 50 pounds or moreAdditional InformationAPPLICATION DEADLINE: Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. (noon)An online completed City application form is required to apply for this position.
