Job Description
Virginia Virtual Academy (VAVA) is a Stride K12 partner school offering an individualized and engaging online learning experience. We seek a highly qualified, state-certified educator to deliver core physical education and other course content in a virtual environment.
Required Certificates & Licenses
Virginia Elementary Teaching Certificate – Endorsement in Physical Education
Residency Requirements
Remote position; preference for Virginia residents.
Consideration for candidates in Washington, DC or Maryland.
Must be able to attend in-person PDs, testing, and school events.
Compensation
Base salary of $50,000 plus eligibility for a performance bonus.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver rich synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students.
Design and personalize instruction to meet diverse student learning levels.
Use Stride K12's LMS to monitor progress and maintain grade book integrity.
Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests.
Communicate regularly with families, learning coaches, and students.
Support learning coaches with curriculum issues and virtual classroom troubleshooting.
Travel for face-to-face PD, testing, and other school functions (˜20% of time).
Maintain professional home office and work independently (40+ hrs/week).
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
Active Virginia teaching license.
Successful completion of required background check.
Desired Qualifications
Experience teaching the proposed age group.
Experience supporting adults and children in technology use.
Experience teaching in an online or hybrid environment.
Proficiency with online learning platforms (e.g., PowerSchool, Canvas).
Ability to interpret and use student data to drive instruction.
Regular coaching and willingness to embrace change.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
Rapid learning of new technologies and K12 systems.
Maintenance of certification and professional development hours.
