Our Adult Inpatient Psychiatric Unit is a 20-bed unit with a 6:1 nurse to patient ratio and a team nursing model. We are supported by an engaged, compassionate interdisciplinary team focused on high quality outcomes, meaningful patient interaction, and a therapeutic environment with exceptionally low use of restraints.Job Description:The Registered Nurse (RN) in Adult Inpatient Psychiatry provides direct and indirect psychiatric nursing care to adult patients and their families. The RN utilizes the nursing process while promoting safety, recovery, dignity, and therapeutic engagement in alignment with Anna Jaques Hospital's mission and values.Key ResponsibilitiesPsychiatric Nursing CareProvide trauma‐informed, patient‐centered psychiatric nursing careComplete admission and ongoing mental health assessmentsDevelop and implement individualized plans of careEvaluate patient progress and adjust care plans accordinglyPatient & Family EngagementInvolve patients and families in treatment planningProvide education using clear explanations and teach‐back methodsSafety & Therapeutic EnvironmentMaintain a safe, secure, and therapeutic milieuDemonstrate competency in de‐escalation techniquesParticipate in management of acute behavioral situations when necessarySupport low‐restraint, patient‐centered interventionsDocumentation & CommunicationDocument assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timelyFollow hand‐off communication and safety protocolsProfessional Practice & TeamworkPractice within the Nurse Practice ActCollaborate with an interdisciplinary psychiatric care teamParticipate in staff meetings, quality improvement, and unit‐based educationLeadership & Additional Roles (as assigned)Serve as a resource or preceptor for new staffDelegate tasks appropriately within scope of practiceServe as Charge Nurse or Admissions/Discharge RN as neededAct as the Human Rights Officer for the unit (designated role)Job RequirementsGraduate of an accredited nursing programCurrent Registered Nurse license in MassachusettsBLS certification requiredAdvanced AVADE training maintained annuallyPhysical & Work EnvironmentAbility to provide direct patient care including lifting and assisting patientsStanding, walking, and bending as requiredParticipation in physical management of violent behavior when necessaryExposure to biological and chemical hazards; PPE required Pay Range: $36.93 - $80.96This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. The pay range for this position is established and governed by the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
