Procurement Specialist
A Day in Your Life at MKS:As a Procurement Specialist at MKS Instruments, you will partner with Operations, Category Management, and Procurement etc to manage and execute plant-level procurement activities, ensure continuity of supply, and support production needs. In this role, you will report to the Procurement Manager.This is a hybrid position requiring onsite presence Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Candidates must reside within commutable distance to the Andover/Methuen, MA sites.You Will Make an Impact By:Serving as the primary point of contact within the plant for all procurement activities and tasksManaging the supply base to avoid and resolve delivery, quality, and pricing issuesCoordinating and streamlining plant procurement activities with Procurement Service Center Buyers to meet and exceed production needs and prevent interruptionsDriving supplier approval processes and developing suppliers in inventory management, Kanban, 3PL, consignment stock, and lean principlesManaging inventory availability and health, including inventory planning, forecasting, and vendor operational improvements (efficiency, fill rates, lead time)Identifying and managing supply risks related to supplier financial instability or insolvencyCapitalizing on current and future procurement opportunities to maximize leverage across categoriesLeveraging knowledge of supply market trends, associations, and trade indexes to inform procurement strategyTravel Requirements: Up to 20%–30% travel to suppliers and other MKS facilities, as requiredSkills You Bring:Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, supply chain management, logistics, or related field, or equivalent experience5+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, inventory planning, or capacity planning improvementDemonstrated experience with demand planning and materials management toolsProficiency with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft OfficeAdvanced skill level in Excel and PowerPointExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsAbility and willingness to influence change and challenge the status quoPreferred Skills:Experience developing suppliers using lean principlesFamiliarity with Kanban, consignment inventory, and 3PL modelsExperience working in a manufacturing or plant-based environmentPhysical Demands and Working Conditions:Hybrid role requiring on-site presence at least three days per weekWork performed in a combination of office and manufacturing plant environmentsAbility to travel locally as required (20%–30%)This position is hybrid and must be within commutable distance to the Andover/Methuen, MA sites. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].
