Job Title: Head Coach- High School Co-ed Track and Field Location: Ascent Classical Academy of Northern ColoradoFLSA Status: Non-ExemptReports to: Athletic DirectorWork Hours/Days: Part-Time, February- May, Practice/game daysHourly Wage Range: $2,000.00 one-time payout in MayPosition Summary:Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Colorado is seeking coaching staff for the 2025/2026 school year to support the athletic director in implementing programming in various middle and high school sports.Coaches work closely with the athletic director, requiring a highly organized, disciplined, and motivated individual to help support the school's athletic programming and goals.Strong candidates will support the school's Mission: to develop the moral and intellectual skills, habits, and virtues upon which independent, responsible, and joyful lives are built, in the firm belief that such lives are the basis for a free and flourishing republic. This is achieved by working to train the minds and improve the hearts of young people through a classical, content-rich education in the liberal arts and sciences, with instruction in the principles of moral character and civic virtue in an orderly and disciplined environment.Candidates must attach a letter of introduction, a C.V. or resume, and three character references to their application. All coaching candidates must also attach a "statement of coaching philosophy."Key Responsibilities:Plan and lead practices and games/competitionsComplete all required training and certificationsPromote academic growth among athletesFoster school and team spiritFoster competitive growth among athletesContribute to the moral and intellectual environment of the schoolAdhere to the principles of classical education as it relates to the improvement of a student's mind, soul, and bodySupport the development of the intellectual environment of the schoolRespond promptly and courteously to parent communications within one business daySpeak of and model character in terms of the School's core virtuesAbility to effectively communicate with all activities staff, parents, students, other staff members, and visitors to the schoolDemonstrate expert knowledge of the sport(s) assignedCoaches are expected to thoroughly understand the rules, principles, and competitive strategies of the sport they coachThey are expected to be present at all in-season and out-of-season practices and at all gamesShould a coach be unable to attend a game or practice, they are to make suitable arrangements in their absenceAttend all practices and gamesAssist with set up and take down of equipment for practices and gamesDemonstrate consistent and reliable attendance by adhering to assigned work hours, reporting on time, and following proper procedures for absences or tardiness to ensure minimal disruption to students, colleagues, and school operations.Other duties as assignedPosition Requirements:High School Diploma or GEDPrevious coaching experience preferredDemonstrated knowledge and understanding of the sportExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to work collaboratively with diverse groups of individualsCommitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environmentConcussion Training or willing to obtainLoyalty to the school and ACA's mission and visionCommitment to model moral character in line with the school's core virtuesAdherence to all ACA policies, including but not limited to the Employee Handbook, Family Handbook, and all applicable school and board policies Physical Requirements:Must be able to lift 25 poundsMust be prompt to all practices and games, and not leave a game/practice site until all student athletes have been picked upMust be able to traverse the field, gym, school and stairs or any areas involved with the sport Mandatory Background Checks: In alignment with our commitment to student safety, all candidates are required to undergo a comprehensive background check, which includes reviewing criminal records and may require fingerprinting.
