Staff Therapist Telehealth-Madera County
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, the Staff Therapist is responsible for providing telehealth behavioral health services to clients referred from contracted County partners. The Staff Therapist will complete initial and annual assessments, provide individual and family therapy sessions, and collaborate with case managers, nurse practitioners, and psychiatrists. The Staff Therapist will use cultural humility and evidence-based approaches to engage clients and their supporters to reach treatment goals. The Staff Therapist will meet all service deliverables requirements and program KPIs. This role will uphold and champion the agencys mission, vision, and values and contribute to a collaborative and inclusive work culture.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Direct Services
Makes psychological evaluations of assigned clients; determines appropriate diagnostic procedures and tests to be used; clinical interviews with clients and other interested persons to develop information pertinent to diagnosis and treatment.
Interviews clients and families to gather social and psychiatric data; prepares mental health/environmental case histories for use in diagnosis; and participates in developing psychological treatment programs and case planning for clients.
Provides individual and family psychotherapy in alignment with monthly/annual goals.
Works to engage families into treatment; is available to provide services in family settings and in the evenings, as needed.
Meets with clients (and families) for regular therapeutic interviews; guides the client (and family) in understanding his/her illness and contributing personal, social, and economic factors; assists client (and family) in developing realistic plans; advises client/family on community resources; and makes referrals and other arrangements as necessary.
Collaborate with service providers and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
Documentation and Compliance
Complies with all agencys policies and procedures and maintains strict HIPPA guidelines.
Submits records of service information and tracking consistent with program policies.
Follows appropriate charting and documentation requirements and agency regulations in a timely manner.
Provides input and feedback on potential related projects/programs, as appropriate.
Supports agency-wide Quality Improvement efforts.
Clinical Service
Works effectively with staff and other health professionals to assess, plan, implement, evaluate and improve patient care.
Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with practice standards and regulations applicable to the area of specialty.
Is competent to access facility information systems to retrieve and utilize pertinent information for the provision of patient care or in the performance of other job-related responsibilities.
Provides education to patients/families appropriate to age, condition, culture and learning readiness.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with the recipients of psychological services.
Develop evidence-based intervention plans specific to the service delivery goals.
Implement interventions informed by the current scientific literature, assessment findings, diversity characteristics, and contextual variables.
Demonstrate the ability to apply the relevant research literature to clinical decision making.
Modify and adapt evidence-based approaches effectively when a clear evidence-base is lacking.
Evaluate intervention effectiveness and adapt intervention goals and methods consistent with ongoing evaluation.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Graduate degree in social work, psychology or related field, and registration with the California BBS/BOP (e.g. PhD, PSYD, LCSW, MFT, ASW, and AMFT) or currently enrolled in a graduate program for mental health and having completed half of the program.
Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred.
Knowledge of principles and practices of modern clinical psychology, including abnormal psychology, personality theory, diagnostic interviewing, psychotherapy - including brief therapy and behavior change, basics of case management, systems theory, family therapy, community psychology, and community mental health.
Ability to work as part of an integrated team and the capacity to be flexible, as needs and special events arise.
Ability to determine the needs of individual situations regarding diagnostic and therapeutic techniques, taking an effective course of action, and follow through with effective treatment plans.
Excellent speaking and writing abilities.
Knowledge of use of computer systems such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Salesforce or similar database applications.
Ability to pass background clearance and clear TB Test.
Non-Profit and Community Based Organization experience highly desirable.
Demonstrates and models excellent customer service orientation, especially in the ability to interact with people at all levels within and outside the agency.
Thinks independently and can make informed decisions when needed.
Participates in individual and group supervision and other training as assigned.
Attends program meetings and all staff meetings.
Exercises extreme discretion with the ability to hold, balance and transmit public and confidential information needed by various parties.
Proficient using MS Office products, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Acquires or maintains proficiency in using Google Drive products, including Docs, Sheets, and Forms.
Valid CA Drivers license
