You will perform quality tests on magnet wire, assist in preparing enamels and lubricants, and ensure raw materials meet specifications. This role involves using chemical testing equipment and measuring instruments while adhering to quality management systems. Specializing in applying electrically insulating varnish or enamel to aluminum or copper wire used in electrical machinery, this company produces high-quality wires in large plants.Responsibilities+ Conduct quality tests on magnet wire to meet specifications, support R&D, and improve product performance.+ Perform metallurgical testing and provide support for magnet wire products.+ Execute tests on QA and experimental runs, action requests, and sample orders.+ Assist in preparing magnet wire enamels, thinners, and lubricants.+ Inspect and analyze raw materials and chemical products to ensure they meet specifications.+ Carry out detailed tests with high attention to detail.+ Follow detailed instructions for testing, data entry, and reporting results through charts and reports.+ Use chemical testing equipment and measuring instruments.+ Collaborate with technicians, engineers, and management to troubleshoot and resolve issues.+ Utilize computer programs, quality systems, and tools, actively participating in the quality management system.+ Adhere to all procedures, methods, and guidelines to achieve quality, safety, and production goals.+ Maintain accurate records and data for company reports.+ Communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers to share information and maintain positive working relationships.+ Skills gained in this role include ISO, QS, TS, GMP.+ Hands-on training with opportunities to grow within the organization.+ Experience across multiple groups/departments in engineering and sciences.+ Opportunity to learn from experienced lab technicians with over 30 years in the field.Essential Skills+ High School Diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in life science/technical field preferred.+ 1-2+ years of lab experience if lacking a scientific degree, with preference for chemistry or physical property experience over biology-related experiences.+ Experience testing metals, specifically conductors such as copper or aluminum, preferred.+ Manufacturing lab experience preferred.+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.+ Strong working knowledge of computers.+ Knowledge of Quality Systems (ISO/QS/TS).+ High attention to detail, organized, above-average mechanical skills.+ Good analytical and problem-solving skills.Additional Skills & Qualifications+ Opportunity for non-degreed candidates to gain hands-on quality lab experience.+ Analytical chemistry cross-training opportunity - GC, ISO, QS, TS, GMP.+ Hands-on training with opportunities to grow within the organization.+ Multiple plants throughout the Fort Wayne area with areas to grow a career.+ Great retention and opportunity to learn from a 30+ year lab tech and take over the role.Work EnvironmentTraining with 1st shift Sr. QA Tech for several weeks. Work is conducted on the 1st shift from Monday to Friday (7am-4pm or 8am-5pm). The dress code is relaxed/casual with boots, and PPE such as lab coats, gloves, and glasses are provided. The team size is 8.
