This is not your average IT role. Our vCIOs act as fractional IT Directors embedded within our clients’ organizations — trusted advisors who sit at the table with business owners and C-Suite executives, advocating for smart technology decisions that drive real business outcomes.You will manage a portfolio of clients simultaneously, building deep relationships with each, understanding their goals, and translating complex technology into clear business strategy. You are the face of TotalCare IT to our clients.🎯 Success is measured by client retention, QBR execution, proposal wins, and KPI achievement.🤝 Previous MSP experience is a significant advantage — but not required.What You’ll DoBe the Trusted Advisor to Our ClientsServe as a fractional IT Director for a portfolio of managed service clients, advocating for their technology interestsBuild and maintain executive-level relationships with business owners and C-Suite stakeholdersLead Quarterly Business Review (QBR) meetings — preparing technology roadmaps, budgets, and strategic recommendations tailored to each client’s goalsOnboard new clients and establish steering committees to guide long-term technology decisionsEducate clients on cybersecurity risks, technology lifecycle management, and the value of proactive IT investmentDrive Technology Strategy and ProposalsUse technology benchmarking outputs to identify gaps, risks, and improvement opportunitiesDevelop and present proposals for new products, services, and projects that align client technology to business objectivesCollaborate with the Design team to build accurate, timely proposals and walk clients through investment decisionsManage opportunities through the full sales cycle — from identification to closeCollaborate and Coordinate Across TeamsConduct weekly preflight check-ins with team to align on upcoming client visits and service prioritiesParticipate in the Noise Abatement Process meetings to proactively reduce chronic support issuesAttend Standards Committee meetings to contribute to the development of the technology benchmarking libraryPartner with the Project Manager to ensure smooth client onboarding and project executionActively participate in daily team huddles and weekly department meetingsManage Your Portfolio with PrecisionMaintain a well-organized ticket queue, triaging, escalating, and closing tickets to ensure timely service deliveryTrack and report on KPIs including QBR attendance, client touches, proposals proposed and won, and ticket agingBalance the needs and priorities of multiple clients simultaneously with professionalism and composureMaintain meticulous documentation of client interactions, service activities, and agreement utilizationWho You AreThe ideal candidate brings a rare combination of business instinct, technical literacy, and genuine people skills. You track your metrics, manage your time across multiple clients without dropping the ball, and take pride in hitting goals.Technically Literate: You may not be hands-on with a keyboard, but you understand IT infrastructure, cybersecurity concepts, and the technology landscape well enough to guide client decisions with confidence.Collaborative by Nature: You work well within a structured team, communicate proactively, share knowledge freely, and contribute to a culture of excellence.QualificationsRequired5+ years of experience in IT consulting, IT leadership, or a client-facing technology advisory roleDemonstrated experience working directly with business owners, executives, or C-Suite stakeholdersStrong understanding of business principles including ROI, total cost of ownership (TCO), and IT budgetingWorking knowledge of IT infrastructure, cybersecurity frameworks, and technology lifecycle managementExceptional verbal and written communication skills; polished and confident presentation abilityProven ability to manage relationships and priorities across multiple clients or accounts simultaneouslyGoal-oriented with a track record of meeting or exceeding KPIsPreferredPrevious experience working at or with a Managed Service Provider (MSP), strongly preferredExperience in a Director of IT, IT Manager, or IT consulting roleFamiliarity with QBR-style client engagement processes, technology roadmap development, or vCIO servicesBachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, CompTIA, CISSP, or vendor-specific) are a bonusA Day in the LifeNo two days are identical, but here’s a glimpse at what your week looks like:Morning: Start with a team huddle — share your wins, your plan, and any roadblocks. Review your ticket queue and client touches for the day.Client Work: Prep for an upcoming QBR, jump on a client call to walk through a proposal, or collaborate with the team on a benchmarking finding that needs your input.Collaboration: Weekly preflight with the team to align on an upcoming visit.
