Low Voltage Electrical Design Engineer
Position Overview:We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Low Voltage Electrical Design Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience designing low voltage (LV) electrical distribution equipment, including switchboards, panelboards, or industrial control panels. Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D is required; experience with electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN is a plus.This role involves close collaboration with mechanical and production teams to ensure fully integrated, manufacturable electrical designs. The position also requires hands-on factory support, strong documentation practices, and participation in continuous improvement and product development initiatives.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, review, and maintain low voltage electrical designs, including single-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagramsDesign and layout systems for switchboards, panelboards, and control panels, including device selection and circuit integrationCollaborate with mechanical engineers to ensure proper electrical-mechanical integration, including component layout, wire routing, and accessibilityPrepare, verify, and release Bills of Materials (BOMs) and submittal drawings for production and procurementProvide hands-on factory floor support to troubleshooting wiring, connection, and design issues during assembly and testingEnsure designs comply with UL standards, NEC requirements, customer specifications, and internal manufacturing capabilitiesSupport value engineering, cost reduction, and design standardization initiativesMaintain accurate documentation, revision control, and drawing standardsCommunicate effectively across cross-functional teams to ensure timely project execution and deliveryQualifications & SkillsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related fieldMinimum 2 years of experience with low voltage switchboards, panelboards, or control panel designProficiency in AutoCAD 2D; experience with AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN preferredStrong understanding of single-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring design for LV systems (≤ 600V)Familiarity with LV components, including circuit breakers, busbars, relays, meters, and control devicesWorking knowledge of UL standards (UL 891, UL 67, UL 508A) and applicable NEC codesUnderstanding of busbar sizing, short-circuit ratings, and thermal considerationsExperience with protective device coordination and basic system design principles is a plusExperience preparing and releasing BOMs and engineering documentationStrong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and organizational abilityAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environmentInterest in continuous improvement and product development initiatives
