We only accept direct applications.Job Title: Mechanical Designer – Pipe Fabrication, Multi-trade Modular, Structural SteelLocation: Duncan, SC or open to Hybrid remoteJob Type: Full-timeJob Summary: The Mechanical Designer is responsible for producing accurate, fabrication-ready pipe spool drawings to support industrial pipe fabrication operations. This role works closely with project management, estimating, quality, and shop operations to translate contract documents, 3D models, and field information into detailed spool drawings that drive safe, efficient, and predictable fabrication.The ideal candidate has direct experience working in a fabrication environment and understands constructability, weld sequencing, material control, and quality requirements associated with industrial piping systems.Key Responsibilities:Develop detailed pipe spool drawings and fabrication packages from 3D models, isometrics, orthographic and contract documentsUtilize Navisworks for model to extract spools per system.Produce and modify 2D drawings using Spoolfab to support fabrication and shop needsGenerate spool sheets including weld symbols, material callouts, dimensions, tolerances, and notes consistent with fabrication standardsCoordinate with project managers, estimators, and shop supervision to ensure drawings align with priorities, schedule, fabrication sequence, and installation strategyIncorporate field conditions, RFIs, and redlines into revised drawings as requiredSupport quality control efforts by ensuring drawings meet applicable codes, specifications, and internal standardsMaintain organized drawing files and revision control in accordance with project and company proceduresParticipate in constructability reviews and prefabrication planning sessionsAssist with model-based takeoffs and material tracking as neededRequired Qualifications3+ years of experience as a mechanical designer or detailer in industrial piping, pipe fabrication, or structural fabricationHands-on experience with Navisworks for model navigation, extraction and coordinationProficiency in AutoCAD for 2D draftingStrong understanding of pipe spool fabrication practices, including welding, fit-up, and shop workflowsAbility to read and interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, specifications, and project documentsWorking knowledge of piping materials, fittings, valves, and supportsStrong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and constructabilityEffective communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, project-driven environmentPreferred QualificationsExperience using Spoolfab for spool management and fabrication workflowsExperience with Tekla Structures , particularly for coordination with structural steel or modular assembliesFamiliarity with ASME piping codes (e.g., B31.1, B31.3)Experience supporting modular or prefabricated piping assembliesExposure to ERP or digital production tracking systemsWhat We OfferOpportunity to work on complex industrial and capital projectsDirect impact on fabrication efficiency, quality, and schedule performanceCollaborative environment bridging engineering, fabrication, and constructionCompetitive compensation and benefits packageLong-term growth opportunities within a fabrication-focused organizationWhy Join Us?We're committed to attracting talented individuals who seek a company with a strong foundation of success and an outstanding culture.
