Port Maintenance Welder
Position Summary
The Port Welder supports vessel and terminal operations by performing welding, fabrication, and repair work on marine equipment, barges, trailers, ramps, and port infrastructure. This role works closely with the Vessel Operations and Maintenance teams to ensure equipment is safe, operational, and ready for cargo operations.
Key Responsibilities
Perform welding and fabrication on marine equipment, trailer stands (pullmans), ramps, and port infrastructure
Repair structural steel, brackets, frames, and damaged components on barges and terminal equipment
Support barge arrival and departure readiness through repair and maintenance work
Assist with routine maintenance, cutting, grinding, fitting, and metal fabrication
Work safely in an active port environment alongside vessel crews and ILA personnel
Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in compliance with safety standards
Qualifications
2+ years of welding or fabrication experience
Welding experience (MIG, Stick; marine or structural preferred)
Structural or marine welding experience preferred
Ability to lift heavy objects and work in confined or outdoor spaces
Forklift or equipment operation experience a plus
Ability to work outdoors and in a port/industrial environment
Comfortable working flexible schedules, including nights or weekends
Maritime or port experience a plus
