Sr. HR Generalist (Benefits & Payroll)

A privately held, family-owned organization is seeking a Sr HR Generalist (Benefits and Payroll to serve as a trusted, hands-on HR presence for the organization. The company operates across multiple operational and production-related functions and supports a mix of year-round and seasonal employees.This role is 100% onsite and offers the opportunity to own core HR operations in a tight-knit, people-first environment.Position OverviewThis is a hands-on, confidential HR role responsible for day-to-day human resources administration, payroll coordination, benefits administration, and safety compliance. The role works closely with the office leadership and operations team and will become the go-to resource for employee questions, onboarding, benefits support, and compliance. The ideal candidate is someone who:Values discretion and confidentiality above all elseEnjoys working directly with employeesIs comfortable wearing multiple hatsThrives in a rural, onsite environment and long-term roleKey ResponsibilitiesHuman Resources & Employee SupportServe as the first point of contact for employee HR-related questionsSupport onboarding, employee paperwork, policy acknowledgments, and personnel recordsAssist with handbook updates and policy administration (including MN Paid Leave)Communicate clearly and professionally with employees across all roles and levelsMaintain strict confidentiality around employee information, pay, and benefitsPayroll CoordinationPartner with Paychex to process bi-weekly payrollReview time entries, payroll reports, and submissions for accuracySupport employees with basic payroll and pay-related questionsEnsure payroll policies and practices remain current and compliantBenefits AdministrationAdminister health, dental, and vision benefitsSupport open enrollment and benefits onboardingRespond to employee benefits questions (cards, coverage, paid family leave, etc.)Coordinate with external vendors and brokers as neededSafety & ComplianceTake ownership of the company’s safety programCoordinate required training, safety meetings, and documentationMaintain OSHA, SDS, and general workplace safety complianceHelp organize and implement existing safety frameworks and programsInsurance & AdministrationAssist with tracking insurance renewals (property, vehicle, workers’ comp)Support compliance reporting and administrative needs as assignedReporting StructureReports to Office ManagementWorks closely with Operations leadershipSupported during transition by the current payroll/office professional through NovemberQualificationsRequiredPrevious experience in Human Resources, HR Operations, HR Administration, or similarExperience supporting payroll and/or benefits coordinationStrong interpersonal and communication skillsDemonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential informationComfortable working independently in a small office environmentWillingness to be fully onsite in Claremont, MNPreferredExperience in agriculture, manufacturing, or industrial environmentsFamiliarity with Paychex or similar payroll platformsSafety or compliance exposure (OSHA, training programs)Experience supporting seasonal or H-2A workforces (preferred, not required)Compensation & BenefitsSalary range: $80,000 – $100,000, depending on experienceCompany covers 75% of employee health insurance premiumStable, long-term opportunity with a family-owned employerWhy This RoleHigh-trust position with real ownershipDirect impact on employees and operationsStable organization with strong values
