Medical Assistant with Aesthetic Experience – Job Duties
Clinical Support
Prepare treatment rooms, maintain cleanliness, and ensure all supplies/equipment are stocked.
Assist providers (NP/MD/PA) during aesthetic procedures such as Botox, dermal fillers, PRP, micro needling, chemical peels, IV hydration, and laser treatments.
Perform delegated non-invasive procedures as trained and permitted by law (facials, dermaplaning, microdermabrasion, skin prep, topical anesthesia application).
Accurately document patient intake, medical history, treatment notes, and follow-up instructions in EMR systems.
Monitor patients during and after treatments, providing comfort and safety.
Patient Care & Education
Greet and prepare patients, explain procedures, answer basic treatment questions, and reinforce pre/post-care instructions.
Provide skincare education, product recommendations, and lifestyle guidance aligned with treatment plans.
Support patient retention by building rapport and delivering a positive client experience.
Administrative & Business Support
Manage scheduling, appointment confirmations, and patient follow-ups.
Handle inventory control for skincare, injectables, and medical supplies.
Assist with patient photos (before/after), consent forms, and treatment records.
Support front-desk tasks: answering phones, processing payments, and checking in/out clients.
Assist in marketing tasks such as social media content support, promotional events, and patient outreach.
Safety & Compliance
Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control protocols.
Ensure proper sterilization of instruments and safe disposal of sharps/medical waste.
Report adverse events, equipment malfunctions, or patient concerns promptly. Patient Preparation
• Greet patients and bring them to the treatment room.
• Take vitals if needed (BP, HR, temp, etc.).
• Review intake forms and confirm consent.
• Cleanse and prep the skin before procedures (ex: micro needling, Botox, fillers).
2. Treatment Support
• Set up trays with sterile supplies, syringes, needles, and skincare products.
• Hand instruments and products to the provider during procedures.
• Apply topical numbing cream before treatments as instructed.
• Assist during IV hydration (start IV only if trained and certified).
• Take before-and-after photos of every treatment.
3. Aftercare & Patient Education
• Give patients written and verbal post-treatment instructions.
• Recommend skincare products and explain how to use them.
• Answer basic questions (refer medical concerns to the provider).
4. Room & Equipment Maintenance
• Disinfect treatment rooms before and after every client.
• Sterilize instruments, dispose of sharps, and keep supplies stocked.
• Organize skincare and injectable inventory; notify provider when low.
5. Administrative Tasks
• Schedule follow-up appointments.
• Enter notes into EMR or chart system.
• Collect payments and provide receipts.
• Help with marketing tasks (social media content, assisting at events).
6. Compliance & Safety
• Always follow HIPAA, OSHA, and infection-control standards.
• Report any adverse reaction or patient concern immediately Clinical & Lab Duties
• Perform phlebotomy (blood draws) for labs, PRP (platelet-rich plasma), and other treatments.
• Collect and process urine, stool, and swab specimens as ordered.
• Label, document, and prepare specimens for lab pickup or in-house testing.
• Perform basic point-of-care testing (urinalysis dipsticks, pregnancy tests, glucose checks, etc.).
• Record vitals (BP, HR, O₂ sat, weight, etc.) and document in EMR.
