Job Description:
Summary:
This role is responsible for executing R&D trials in the silicones pilot line and the production lines at Carol Stream, IL. This individual will be responsible for the operation of pilot plant equipment such as mixers, ovens, web handling equipment and will be assisting R&D engineers and development engineers in executing trials. The process technician will be responsible of all aspects of running the pilot plant operation including maintenance, planning, safety and training. Working closely with the pilot plant process engineer, the process technician will be instrumental in the safe and efficient execution of process and product development trials that are critical to the success of our business.
Essential Functions:
Operate pilot scale mechanical equipment such as planetary mixers, ovens, PLC-controlled processes
Operate the pilot line and produce experimental samples to support new product development
Support R&D and Process Innovation by following technical plans and executing pilot plant experiments
Troubleshoot equipment and production-related issues
Manage inventory of consumables, spare parts and raw materials used in the pilot plant
Develop and maintain clear, accurate, simplified, standardized work instructions. Perform training as needed
Perform routine safety audits and training
Participate in experimental planning and data discussion meetings with R&D staff
Maintain a safe, clean, organized and efficient workplace
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education: Associate’s Degree or preferably BSc degree in a technical discipline
Years of Experience: 3-5 years in similar position, preferably in the chemical industry
Degree in Chemical or Mechanical engineering experience is a plus
Ability to comfortably interact with all levels of the organization
Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities and work environments
Organized
Strong attention to detail
Demonstrated technical problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Hands on experience in operating process equipment
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Travel Requirements: 0-15%
