Health & Social Care Ombudsman Body Lay Members

About the role Are you interested in shaping how health and social care complaints are reviewed on the Isle of Man? The Appointments Commission is seeking between 3 and 6 Lay Members to join the Health and Social Care Ombudsman Body (HSCOB). You will contribute to independent reviews of complaints about decisions by Manx Care or service providers delivering services on its behalf, following completion of the formal complaints process. With at least one position suited to a current or former social work professional, this is an opportunity to bring your knowledge and perspective into a statutory review process guided by established regulations. You will take part in reviewing appeals that have progressed beyond internal procedures, helping ensure each case receives fair and thorough consideration. Meetings usually take place every Wednesday afternoon, although time commitment may vary depending on the complexity of individual cases, and some reviews may require additional time. We are particularly interested in candidates with an interest in the health and social care sector, and experience in complaints handling would be an advantage. Things to note A basic police check is required for this post, the cost of which will be covered by the Isle of Man Government. Please note a relocation package is not available for this role.
