[In-House] Senior Managing Counsel - Government & Regulatory Insurance - P&C Insurance [Remote - California]Our client, a leading P&C insurer, is seeking an attorney to support its regulatory and legislative strategy, with a focus on California. This is a business-facing role working closely with internal stakeholders to shape how the company responds to and navigates an evolving regulatory landscape.This position sits at the intersection of insurance regulation, business strategy, and public policy, where external engagement with regulators and policymakers is driven by internal business priorities and strategic objectives.Role & ResponsibilitiesPartner with business leaders to develop and execute regulatory and legislative strategy aligned with company objectivesMonitor and assess insurance regulatory and legislative developments impacting operationsTranslate regulatory changes into actionable guidance for internal stakeholders and leadershipSupport development of policy positions and external messaging tied to business strategyEngage with regulators, legislators, and industry bodies (DOI, NAIC, NCOIL) to support company prioritiesBuild and maintain relationships with policymakers, trade associations, and external partnersCollaborate cross-functionally with legal, compliance, underwriting, and broader business teams QualificationsJuris Doctor required; California Bar strongly preferred~8-15+ years of experience in government affairs, insurance regulatory, or public policyP&C insurance experienceP&C insurance regulatory frameworks knowledfe (state DOI, NAIC)Experience engaging with regulators, legislators, or industry groupsAbility to operate in a strategic, externally facing, advocacy-driven roleBackground from carrier, regulator, trade association, or law firmCompensation & BenefitsBase Salary: ~$150,000 - $240,000Full benefits + retirement Location & Work ModelRemote (must be based in California or willing to travel)Travel required for in-state regulatory and legislative engagementWhy This Role?Direct involvement in shaping P&C insurance regulatory and legislative outcomesHighly visible, externally facing role with policymakers and regulatorsOpportunity to transition into a true government affairs / advocacy functionStrong exposure to enterprise strategy and senior leadership
