Brief DescriptionBasic FunctionsMaintain tools equipment, tooling racks and machine shop safe, organize and clean environment.Assist tooling lead/supervisor on their daily tasks.Ensure that all hand tooling and equipment are safe and in good working conditions.Report any unsafe conditions to the Tooling lead, Supervisor/Manager immediately upon discovery.Perform all work in a consistent manner with current established safety procedures.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesMaintain inventory of tooling standards and existing tooling.Perform cavity changes, full changeovers as scheduled with minimal set up time.Inspect, test, and ensure all master mold components such as cavities, plugs, ring assists, O-rings, water connector, etc. are in good condition and replace them as needed.Design and construct custom wooden crates/pallets to maintain cavity sets/Master molds organized and in a safe location.Responsible of filling out a tooling checklist after every master mold inspection.Perform inventory of spare parts in the tooling rack area.Ensure that all spare components are available (i.e., cavities, plugs, inserts, ring assists etc.) to eliminate downtime related to the lack of availability of tooling.Seek ways to continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Tooling Department.Determine items that need to be purchased and submit request to lead/supervisor.Other duties as assignedRequired Knowledge, Skills And AbilitiesStrong problem-solving skills with good mechanical aptitudeTool making or machine shop experience is a plusAbility to work in a fast paced, flexible environmentBasic knowledge of thermoforming tooling is a plusBasic Machining Skills: Drilling, Tapping, Milling, removing broken bolts, repairing damaged threads, reading simple blueprints, layout patterns from blueprints to metal, read dial calipers and micrometers, and horizontal band saw.Proficient knowledge in Word, Excel and experience using emailForklift experience required.QualificationsDevoted work ethic (willingness to work extended hours when required).High School or GED diploma.Minimum 2 years in maintenance or tooling industry.Basic understanding of thermoforming tooling in manufacturing environment utilizing plastic process.Must be capable of bending and lifting tool parts and aluminum sheet up to 50 lbs.Willingness to learn, grow and contribute with the Tooling department.Good communication skills and team playerSense of Urgency and thoroughness.Proactive and Innovative thinker.Goal and detail oriented.Safety and quality conscious.Good reporting, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to be a team player.Bilingual language skills (Spanish is a plus).OthersWork in accordance with all company policies and procedures regarding employment, safety, quality, product safety and legality, security, and regulatory compliance as applicable.SummaryWhat makes Sabert a great place to work:Pay, Benefits And More.Sabert is eager to attract the best, so we offer competitive compensation and a generous benefits package, including full health insurance (medical, dental and vision), 401(k), life insurance, disability and more.
