Java Software Engineer
Role OverviewWe are seeking a Software Engineer to contribute to the resilience, scalability, and operational excellence of our Corporate Actions (GASS) platform. The platform processes voluntary and mandatory corporate action events — dividends, mergers, splits, rights issues, spin-offs, tender offers, and elections — across the full lifecycle from event capture and entitlement calculation through position impact, client notification, booking, and downstream publication. Built on a heterogeneous stack spanning C++, Java, Kafka, Sybase, Perl, Autosys, ProcMon, and MongoDB, the platform demands precision, auditability, and deterministic processing at every stage.Technology StackJava (JVM), C++, Apache Kafka, Sybase (Stored Procedures), MongoDB, Perl Scripts, AutosysProcMon, AWS, KubernetesMust-HaveJava multithreading, concurrency, basic JVM/GC diagnosticsC++, ability to read, trace, and debug native components in a production codebaseApache Kafka - producer/consumer patterns, offset management, idempotency, retry handlingSybase stored procedures - reading, debugging, and maintaining SQLPerl scripting - debug and extend batch/ingest scripts in a production pipelineAutosys - job chaining, dependency management, failure recovery for batch processingProcMon - process-level diagnostics during incident triageTest automation - integration and unit testing, regression coverage for event-driven workflowsProduction ownership - incident investigation, log analysis, RCA contribution, runbook maintenancePractical familiarity with AI-enabled development and operations toolingGood-to-HaveCorporate actions domain - entitlement calculation, mandatory/voluntary events, elections, ex-date/pay-date processing, custody chainsSnowflake / SQL - querying large datasets for reconciliation and data validationObservability - Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, structured loggingGradle / Maven - multi-module builds and dependency managementAWS / Kubernetes - cloud and container platform awareness (added advantage)
