Resource Room Special Education Teacher

Posting Date April 17, 2026Closing Date May 1, 2026Reports to: Building Principal and Director of Special EducationStart Date: August 2026 Rate of Pay:Based on applicable step/salary per CEA contract.Schedule:Teacher contractQualifications:• Must hold special education teaching certificate• Must meet Highly Qualified Teacher status requirements• Experience with learning and behavior disabilities.• Ability to facilitate, assign and organize paraprofessionals• Experience with teaching independent living skills• Experience with teaching remedial reading and mathJob Responsibilities:• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned to each student's unique needs• Provide individualized (1:1) and small group instruction based on student goals and learning profiles• Deliver targeted instruction for students with lower cognitive demands, including functional academics and life skills• Plan and support opportunities for students to build independence and real world skills• Facilitate IEP meetings with families in a supportive, collaborative manner• Partner with general education teachers to create meaningful inclusion opportunities when appropriate• Monitor and track student progress toward IEP goals, adjusting instruction as needed• Support student behavior through positive supports, de-escalation strategies, and proactive interventions• Lead, organize, and guide a team of paraprofessionals to ensure consistent and effective student support• Build strong, positive relationships with students, families, and staff• Communicate regularly with families to celebrate growth and problem-solve together• Participate in bi-weekly Special Education team meetings focused on collaboration and support• Collaborate with related service providers (e.g., SLP, social worker, OT) to support the whole child• Create a structured, safe, and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive• Support additional building needs (e.g., recess supervision) as part of the school team• Participate in staff meetings, professional learning, and school initiatives• Contribute to a positive, team-oriented school culture focused on student successHow to Apply:• Candidates are asked to apply online on the Chelsea School District Website under Employment Opportunities at chelseaschools.org
