This platform will serve as the foundation for future digital initiatives across public services, including areas such as benefits, transportation, and case management.We are seeking a Senior Developer who can help architect, build, and scale modern cloud-native applications in a fast-moving environment. This individual will play a critical role in designing backend systems, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and integration patterns while collaborating closely with product, design, and engineering leadership.This is an opportunity to work on meaningful public-impact technology while helping shape the future technical architecture of a statewide digital platform.What You’ll DoLead backend architecture and development for a modern citizen services platform built on cloud-native technologies.Design, develop, and maintain scalable APIs, microservices, and backend integrations.Build and support applications leveraging Node.js and modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks.Collaborate with frontend engineers building user interfaces in React.Integrate applications with Drupal and other enterprise platforms.Design and implement cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and operational tooling within Amazon Web Services.Build and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and modern DevOps practices.Partner with product, UX, and technical leadership to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.Mentor other developers and help establish engineering standards, code quality practices, and architecture patterns.Contribute to emerging AI-driven platform capabilities, including integration with generative AI and agentic workflow tooling.Required Qualifications7+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on backend or full stack application development.Strong hands-on development experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js.Experience building RESTful APIs, backend services, and distributed application architectures.Strong experience with cloud infrastructure in Amazon Web Services, including services such as Lambda, API Gateway, ECS, or similar.Experience with CI/CD pipelines, source control, and automated deployment practices using GitHub.Experience integrating applications with CMS platforms, enterprise systems, or third-party APIs.Strong understanding of software architecture, security, scalability, and performance optimization.Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
