Intact's Global Specialty Lines business spans across more than 20 verticals in four distinct markets: U.S., Canada, UK and Europe. The following opportunity is for our U.S. team. We currently have an opportunity for a Claim Representative Trainee to join our Finance Claims team based in our Barrington, IL office on hybrid schedule. This accelerated program is designed to give the trainee a broad overview of Intact Specialty Solutions Finance Team. The program lasts 12 months with an opportunity of a promotion upon completion. This role starts on June 1st. Under close supervision as part of the formal training program, trainees will develop skills and knowledge to provide efficient and effective disposition of assigned claims through timely investigation, evaluation and resolution. Some of the Claim Representative Trainee responsibilities include but are not limited to: Makes timely and appropriate contacts and completes appropriate level of investigation to make determination of coverage, liability and damages for routine claims. Determines exposure, establishes adequate initial reserves and makes timely adjustments within authority level, as required. Within authority level, assigns and directs activities of internal and external resources as required; including independent adjusters and appraisers. Identifies questionable claims and consults with SIU for further direction as appropriate. Under close supervision, may determine settlement value of the loss and negotiate proper settlement of claims within authority. Provides recommendations for settlement and disposition of claims exceeding authority level. May utilize liability tools. Documents clearly and concisely all relevant activity on assigned files and makes recommendations for additional activity as appropriate. As this is a developmental role, completes required learning programs and on the job training as needed. Depending on the case load and business, may be working toward getting state approved license or certificate. Anticipates and meets all customer needs (internal and external). The expertise you bring: Bachelor's degree preferred, with some business or insurance background. 0 - 1 years of claims experience. Must be able to obtain an adjuster license no later than October 1, 2026, with dedicated training and study time provided The starting base salary for this position is $61,500.
