Together, these facilities offer patients the best rehab and nursing care they can obtain after their hospital discharge.The Recreation Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading therapeutic recreational activities for residents in a Skilled Nursing Facility.This role supports residents' physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being by implementing engaging programs that enhance quality of life.The Recreation Lead works closely with nursing staff, therapy teams, and families to ensure activities are appropriate to residents' abilities, care plans, and individual interests.The position requires strong leadership, compassion, creativity, and knowledge of senior care environments, including dementia-sensitive programming and safety protocols.Recreation Lead plans and leads daily recreational and therapeutic activities for residentsAdapt programs to meet physical, cognitive, and emotional needsSupervise group and one-on-one activities, including memory care programmingRecreation Lead ensures resident safety and follow facility policies and care plansDocument participation and progress in accordance with regulationsCollaborate with nursing and therapy staff to support resident goalsPrepare activity materials and maintain organized activity spacesEncourage socialization and promote resident engagementRequirements:High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in Recreation Therapy, Gerontology, or related field preferredPrevious experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or senior services preferredKnowledge of dementia care and age-appropriate programmingStrong leadership, organizational, and communication skillsAbility to adapt activities to residents' physical and cognitive abilitiesCompassionate, patient, and resident-centered approachAbility to work flexible hours, including some weekends or holidaysPrevious experience with geriatric patients is desirable.Must have a sincere desire to work with the elderly, chronically ill, and handicapped.Must utilize good judgment in emergency situations.Must possess a spirit of cooperation and enthusiasm in order to create an atmosphere conducive to rehabilitation and growth.Must be able to communicate well verbally with residents, families and staff.Treat residents and fellow staff with respect, dignity, and compassion.Covid-19 vaccinations are encouraged but NOT MANDATED; we continue to offer COVID-19 vaccination based on eligibility guidance from CDCWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer, celebrate diversity, & are committed to creating an inclusive work environment for all!
