The ideal candidate will excel in a professional and team-oriented environment. The role requires excellent communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.The position is based in Fort Lauderdale and must operate in accordance with applicable legal accounting standards. The role also supports multi-state operations, including tax and reporting requirements in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple offices and entitiesProduce monthly and ad hoc reports, including billing and collections reportsTrack financial performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunitiesAnalyze and report on key financial ratios and operational KPIsEnsure compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and regulatory requirementsAccounting Operations & ComplianceSupport month-end and year-end close processes in accordance with firm deadlinesCoordinate with CFO and external auditors the annual audits and tax preparationEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local reporting requirementsFile and manage multi-state tax obligations, including:Sales & Use Tax and tax compliance (FL, NY, NJ, PA)Tangible Personal Property Tax (as applicable)Mentor junior accounting staff and assist with training initiativesAuditing & ComplianceCoordinate internal and external audit activitiesLead audit preparation, including documentation, testing, and issue resolutionEvaluate internal controls and recommend process improvementsEnsure compliance with financial reporting standardsConduct risk assessments and support remediation initiativesGeneral Ledger & TransactionsManage general ledger activity, journal entries, and complex account reconciliationsMonitor and reconcile trust, unapplied cash, and work-in-progress (WIP) balancesMaintain the chart of accounts and fixed asset recordsReconcile general ledger accounts, including:Payroll, deposits, loans, intercompany transactions, and liability accountsSupport year-end closure and reporting for tax filingsAudit financial data and report variances or discrepancies to the CFORecord expense allocations and inter-office financial activityPerform bank reconciliations for the firm’s operating and trust accountsFinancial AnalysisSupport budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management initiativesWork alongside the Financial Analyst to produce monthly and ad hoc reports, including:Profitability and performance metricsBudget vs. actual variance analysisAnalyze financial data and deliver actionable insights to leadershipAssist in developing annual budgets and forecastsTrack financial performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunitiesReporting to LeadershipProvide regular updates to the CFO and leadership on:Cash position and daily balancesFinancial performanceCompliance and risk considerationsSupport strategic decision-making through financial modeling and analysisPrepare executive-level summaries and reports as neededQualifications & RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or related fieldMinimum 5+ years of accounting and/or financial analysis experience, preferably within a law firm environmentStrong knowledge of:General ledger accountingFinancial reporting and analysisBudgeting and forecastingLegal billing and trust accounting practicesExperience with legal accounting software (e.g., Aderant Expert) strongly preferredProficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, financial modeling, analysis)Skills & CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to interpret financial data and provide strategic insightsHigh level of discretion and confidentialityExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentDetail-oriented with strong organizational skillsAdditional NotesThis role supports a multi-state law firm environment and must be comfortable working with varying regulatory and tax requirements across jurisdictionsPrior experience with multi-office or regional accounting operations is highly preferredReplies are given within 24 hours, so apply today for immediate consideration.Equal Employment OpportunityBecker is committed to diversity in the workplace.
