Civil Foreman / Heavy Equipment Operator
The Civil Foreman / Equipment Operator reports directly to our Civil Superintendents and is responsible for supervising field crews while actively operating heavy equipment on civil site development projects. This role ensures work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans, specifications, and schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise crews on site development projects (earthwork, utilities, grading)
Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, and rollers
Execute daily work activities and coordinate manpower, equipment, and materials as designated by Civil Superintendents
Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and grade stakes
Work with Safety Director to enforce crew compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and OSHA standards
Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, inspectors, and subcontractors
Monitor productivity, quality of work, and jobsite housekeeping
Assist with layout, grade checking, and problem solving in the field
Qualifications:
Minimum 5+ years of civil construction experience, including supervisory experience
Proficient in operating multiple types of heavy equipment
Strong understanding of site development, underground utilities, and grading
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Valid driver’s license
R&O’s civil group builds both private and public works projects that are typically located in the greater Vancouver and Portland areas. This position is full-time, Monday – Friday with overtime opportunities.Pre-Employment drug screening will apply.
