Field Operator – Water OperationsPosition OverviewThe Field Operator – Water Operations is responsible for monitoring, operating, and supporting water treatment, salt water disposal, and distribution systems through remote and field coordination. This role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant water operations by leveraging SCADA systems, operational data, and effective communication with field personnel.Key ResponsibilitiesSystem MonitoringMonitor water treatment facilities, salt water disposal systems, and distribution networks using SCADA systemsTrack and analyze flow rates, pressure levels, reservoir levels, and system performanceIdentify abnormal conditions and respond proactively to system alarmsRemote OperationsAdjust pumps, valves, inlets, and related equipment remotely to maintain optimal system performanceRespond promptly to alarms and initiate corrective actionsSupport troubleshooting efforts during system disruptions or failuresCoordination & Field SupportCommunicate clearly with field operators to coordinate maintenance, repairs, and emergency responseDispatch I&E technicians, electrical crews, and field personnel for on-site troubleshooting when remote resolution is not feasibleProvide operational guidance to field teams as neededData Management & ReportingRecord operational data, incidents, and maintenance activities accurately in logs and reportsGenerate daily, weekly, and monthly operational performance reportsMaintain clear documentation of system changes and eventsCompliance & SafetyEnsure operations comply with applicable regulatory requirements related to water quality and safetyFollow established emergency response protocols during system failures, spills, or contamination eventsPromote a strong safety culture and report potential risks or hazardsContinuous ImprovementParticipate in ongoing training, system upgrades, and process reviewsIdentify and recommend opportunities for improved efficiency, reliability, and operational performanceSkills & QualificationsTechnical KnowledgeUnderstanding of water treatment processes and water distribution systemsFamiliarity with SCADA systems for remote monitoring and controlBasic electrical and mechanical knowledge related to pumps, valves, and instrumentationComputer & Software SkillsProficiency in SCADA platforms and data logging systemsAbility to interpret system alarms and conduct remote troubleshootingWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite for reporting and documentationAnalytical & Problem-Solving SkillsAbility to analyze operational data and identify trends, irregularities, or equipment issuesStrong decision-making skills, particularly under pressure during system failures or emergenciesCommunication SkillsClear verbal and written communication for coordination with field operators, technicians, and leadershipAbility to document incidents, operational changes, and corrective actions accuratelyWork EnvironmentCombination of control room monitoring and coordination with field-based teamsMay require shift work, on-call availability, or response during emergency situations
