Position Summary:The Paralegal will support the in-house legal department of a homebuilder/developer in all transactional (i.e., non-litigation) aspects of the Company. Key Duties and Responsibilities:Assist the in-house attorneys with real estate and loan closings, including review of closing documents, title and surveysPrepare, review, distribute, organize and file real estate transaction documents including electronic filing of documents through SimplifilePrepare HOA formation and governing documents and distribute HOA document packages to field personnelAssist General Counsel in the formation, management, dissolution and maintenance of corporate entities including ordering and organizing corporate minute booksDevelop and maintain internal tracking tools for various matters including projects, corporate entities, and legal department expensesEnsure all work is completed with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detailServe as a liaison between in-house counsel and outside counselOpen new matters in electronic billing system, monitor timekeeper rates, approve/reject/dispute invoices from law firms and coordinate with law firm personnel on billing mattersPrepare FedEx shipping labels/packages as neededOrder office supplies as neededProcess check requests for title policies, governmental applications, attorney expense reports and other legal department expensesPerform other related duties as required and assignedSkills & Abilities:Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word Excellent typing, computer and phone skillsAbility to work independently and under pressureAbility to handle and protect confidential informationAbility to handle difficult situations courteously and professionallyExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExemplary organizational and follow-up skillsStrong accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to identify errors and maintain high-quality standardsMust be able to multi-task and set priorities while meeting deadlinesMust maintain a consistently high standard of service and leadershipStrong interpersonal customer service skillsMust be a team player and have flexibility for overtime hoursEducation & Experience:High School Diploma required. Associate or bachelor’s degree and/or Certified Paralegal certification a plusAt least 5 years of legal experience. In-house corporate experience a plusProficient in Microsoft Office Suite of Applications - Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TeamsOther Requirements:Assist with various project and model row Grand Opening events which may occasionally require overtime weekend hours (2 - 3 times per year)
