The position performs a variety of tasks including managing the organization’s computer networks, and ensuring stable and secure connectivity. Key duties include installing and maintaining hardware, software, troubleshooting, monitoring network performance, and managing security.To maintain bipartisan balance of staff at the Board of Elections, this position must be filled by a candidate that affiliates with the Republican Party.Applicants should send cover letter and resume to Director Sherry Poland at sherry.poland@boe.hamiltoncountyohio.gov by May 31st, 2026.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesSet up and maintain network infrastructure, servers, hardware, and operating systemsMonitor network traffic, performance, and logsDiagnoses and resolves connectivity problems for end-users and network equipmentPerform regular backups, apply updates, manage data recovery and provide technical support to staffProtect networks firewalls, VPNs, APNs, security audits, and manages user permissionsPerforms other duties as assignedQualificationsMinimum:Strong knowledge of information technology hardware/software and networking functions and topologiesStrong understanding of Windows operating systems and applicationsKnowledge of database architectureKnowledge of FortiGate firewall productsStrong problem solving and troubleshooting abilitiesAbility to work both independently and part of a teamSuccessful completion of a criminal background checkBe a registered and active voter of the State of OhioRecommended:Four-year college or university program certificate or four years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experienceMicrosoft Windows Server Administrator CertificationCisco Certified Network Associate or CompTIA Network+ CertificationBasic understanding of the Structured Query LanguageWORKING CONDITIONSSit for extended periods of timeFrequent periods of standing, walking, stooping, kneeling or crouchingRepetitive movement of hands and fingers (typing and/or writing)Occasional election cycle assignments may include working outdoorsMay be required to lift a maximum of thirty pounds
