Estimator

About the RoleIn this role, estimators are responsible for developing complete, accurate, and timely project estimates by reviewing bid documents, specifications, and drawings; evaluating scope, cost and constructability; and communicating clearly with internal teams, trade partners and other project stakeholders. Our estimators are key team members who think beyond traditional preconstruction by helping shape strategy, identify risk, support decision-making, and align cost with the clients goals. Their work is critical to producing successful proposals, building confidence with clients, and positioning Thomas to be successful. ResponsibilitiesPreparing timely cost, materials and labor estimates for construction projects by analyzing project drawings, specifications and RFPsUnderstanding contract language and commitments, consumer expectations, and scope of projectConsulting with clients, architects, subcontractors, and material suppliers to discuss and formulate estimates, effective cost reductions and constructability issuesDistributing and coordinating plans, specifications, information, and policies, ensuring each requirement is managed or covered appropriatelySelecting and managing subcontractors throughout the preconstruction processAssessing cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as a project develops while comparing to historical pricing and / or internal evaluationDevelopment of scope sheets for bid levelingActing as the liaison between all contracted parties in a projectOther duties or responsibilities are assignedQualificationsBachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Building Construction from an accredited university, preferred; a combination of on-the-job experience and/or formal education may be substituted for the degree3+ plus years' commercial general contracting estimating experienceRequired SkillsStrong verbal, written, and organizational skillsProficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software (Procore or similar), Bluebeam, Destini Estimator, On Screen Takeoff, scheduling software (Primavera P6 or similar) and AdobeLiving Thomas Culture This estimating position will do work in a manner that is steeped in our Values: Team, Improvement, Excellence, Service.
