Job DescriptionJob Title: Construction ManagerDivision: FiOptix IncFSLA Status: ExemptReports To: Project ManagerJob Summary: This position is responsible for the oversight of construction projects including planning, budgeting, safety, quality, scheduling, staffing, material handling, and overall customer satisfaction.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Implement operational and productivity standards and monitor the progress of assigned jobs to ensure quality, budget, and timeline expectations are achieved Provide oversight during the construction of assigned jobs, make recommendations for improvement, and resolve customer inquiries and/or concerns if they arise Promote a safety-first culture and ensure a safe work environment is maintained by adhering to and enforcing all Company safety practices and proceduresConduct site walks, evaluate conditions, and prepare cost estimates accordinglyEnsure permitting, inspections, and code compliance is completed as neededReport project status and performance data Manage ordering of material and the inventory process Review all job-related closeout documentation for accuracy and ensure timely submissionEnsure the regular completion of job safety observations (JSO) and vehicle inspections Establish, manage, and maintain subcontractor relationships Ensure the timely reporting of on-the-job accidents, injuries, and damage claims Manage the maintenance of the facility, warehouse, fleet, vehicles, equipment, and toolsEnsure the crews have the required safety gear, proper tools, and associated training Other duties as assignedSupervisory Job Duties:Carries out supervisory duties in accordance with the Company’s objectives, policies, and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to; planning, assigning, and directing work, interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing employee concerns, and partnering with local management and Human Resources to resolve escalated employee matters. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.Education: High school diploma, general education degree (G.E.D.), or related trade school educationExperience: Five years of wireline telecommunications and cable experience, including underground utilities, placement and routing of utilities/fiber optic, CATV pathways, aerial, and multi dwelling units (MDU)Three to five years of aerial and underground utility construction experience for CATV and fiber optic transmission as well as telephone systemsThree years supervisory experience Knowledge of the use and operating characteristics of a variety of light and heavy equipment used in construction and maintenanceKnowledge of the hazards incidental to maintenance and construction involved and of the safety measures to be observedKnowledge of highway traffic control standardsTechnical Skills:Computer and Microsoft Office proficiencyAbility to understand construction plans in order to manage the successful completion of operationsKnowledge of ISP construction in commercial and industrial settingsSoft Skills:Highly organized and detail orientated Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills Ability to think analytically, apply sound judgment, and solve problems Ability to lead, teach, train, and motivate staff Physical Requirements: Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testingMust have a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets Company requirementsMust be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at knees and waist, squat and lift 50 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxesMust be able to stand for long periods of time on varied surfacesSitting at a desk for 6-8 hours a dayWorking on a computer for 6-8 hours a day May be required to work long and unpredictable hours Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, including short notice travel.
