Duration: FTELocation: 100% RemoteOverviewThe Principal Consultant is a senior technical leader who partners closely with clients and internal teams to design and deliver modern cloud solutions. This role emphasizes deep AWS expertise while supporting clients that operate across multiple cloud platforms, including Azure and GCP.In addition to delivery leadership, this role plays a key part in pre-sales efforts by supporting the sales team with technical guidance, solution design, and client conversations. The Principal Consultant helps shape opportunities early, ensures proposed solutions are sound and achievable, and builds client confidence from the first interaction.This role is hands-on when needed, but primarily focused on architecture leadership, decision-making, and driving successful outcomes rather than day-to-day implementation.ResponsibilitiesClient Advisory and Technical LeadershipServe as a senior technical advisor to client stakeholders, including engineering leaders, architects, and executivesLead discussions around cloud strategy, platform design, and modernization approachesHelp clients define realistic roadmaps that balance business goals, security, cost, and operational maturityTranslate business problems into clear technical solutions that teams can executePre-Sales and Solution ShapingPartner with the sales team during pre-sales activities to support opportunity developmentParticipate in client discovery calls, technical deep dives, and solutioning sessionsHelp define scope, architecture approach, assumptions, and risks during proposal developmentReview and contribute to statements of work, ensuring technical accuracy and feasibilityAct as a trusted technical voice in early client conversations to build credibility and trustSolution Architecture and Delivery OversightDesign and review enterprise-grade AWS architectures, including networking, identity, security, compute, and data servicesProvide architectural guidance for clients operating in multi-cloud or hybrid environmentsSet technical direction and guardrails for delivery teams across engagementsEnsure solutions align with AWS best practices, security standards, and client constraintsPlatform, DevOps, and Operational ExcellenceGuide clients in adopting infrastructure as code, deployment automation, and modern CI/CD practicesAdvise on observability, reliability, and operational readiness, including logging, monitoring, and incident responseHelp organization move from project-based delivery toward sustainable platform and product modelsMentorship and Internal LeadershipMentor architects and senior engineers across projectsServe as an escalation point for complex technical decisionsContribute to internal reference architectures, standards, and acceleratorsSupport internal capability growth and consistency across cloud engagementsQualifications10 or more years of experience in cloud architecture, platform engineering, or enterprise systemsStrong background delivering consulting or professional services engagementsExperience working directly with client leaders and technical decision-makersComfortable balancing hands-on technical depth with strategic advisory responsibilitiesAWS expertiseDeep experience designing and operating solutions on AWS in production environmentsStrong understanding of services such as EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, Route 53, RDS, DynamoDB, and S3Experience designing for security, high availability, disaster recovery, and cost optimizationAWS certifications preferred, especially Solutions Architect ProfessionalMulti-Cloud experienceWorking knowledge of Azure and or GCPAbility to compare cloud services, patterns, and tradeoffs across providersExperience supporting hybrid or multi-cloud architectures, even if AWS is the primary platformStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiencesComfortable presenting to clients and facilitating technical discussionsPragmatic mindset that balances ideal architecture with real-world constraintsCollaborative, calm under pressure, and trusted by both clients and internal teamsWhat Success Looks LikeClients see you as a trusted advisor, not just a technical expertSales teams rely on you to strengthen opportunities and reduce delivery riskDelivery teams look to you for clarity, direction, and confidenceSolutions are secure, scalable, and operationally soundYou raise the technical bar for both clients and the consulting organizationThe salary range for this role is $180,000 to $205,000 or the hourly equivalent.
