Graph Database Engineer

Client: Dept Veteran's Affairs (Must be a GC Holder or USC) *Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Duration: 12 months+ extension Location: Remote Job Description: We are seeking a talented and experienced Graph Database Designer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and optimizing graph databases to support our data-driven applications and solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, software developers, and data scientists, to ensure our graph databases are efficient, scalable, and able to deliver valuable insights from complex data relationships. Key Responsibilities: Database Design: Design, develop, and implement graph database solutions using industry-standard graph database technologies such as Neo4j, Amazon Neptune, or others. Data Modeling: Create and maintain graph data models that accurately represent the relationships between data entities, ensuring data integrity and optimal query performance. Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize graph database performance to meet scalability and response time requirements. Integration: Collaborate with data engineers to integrate graph databases with other data storage systems and data pipelines. Query Optimization: Develop and optimize complex graph queries to extract valuable insights and support application functionality. Security: Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect sensitive data stored in the graph databases. Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation for database design, schema, and query optimization techniques. Performance Tuning: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and issues in graph database operations. Research: Stay updated on emerging graph database technologies and trends to recommend improvements and innovative solutions. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. 8+ years of experience with software development, database development and data analysis including database technologies: Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres, and MongoDB Proven experience in designing and implementing graph databases. Proficiency with graph database technologies such as Neo4j, Amazon Neptune, or similar. Strong knowledge of graph data modeling and query optimization. Experience with query languages for graph databases (e.g., Cypher). Solid understanding of database performance tuning and optimization. Familiarity with data integration and ETL processes. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment. Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus Job Type: Contract Pay: $70.00 - $80.00 per hour Benefits: 401(k) Dental insurance Health insurance Schedule: Monday to Friday Application Question(s): Eligible for a Public Trust?
