Work is performed under supervision within established policies with latitude for independent judgment. Employee performance is based upon a review of completed work and overall results obtained. May supervise specialized clerical section.Major/Essential FunctionsCheck e-mails to verify all credit card payments have been posted and receipted correctlyCheck the librarian portal for new library card applicationsGenerate new library cards and upload into the KOHA system Verify patron information is complete and if not, access Banner to gain further informationVerify correct expiration dates using BannerTrains students assistants in daily operation of the circulationCheck in and out library materials Using KOHA system and determining if they need more in-depth assistance, introducing them to a Reference Librarian for further assistanceAssist with the basic maintenance of circulation computers and OPAC’sAnswer phone calls for circulationAnswer phone calls for Reference, ILL and Administration when they are away from their officesKeep circulation office inventory up-to-dateAssist with circulation monthly statistics on a daily basisMonitor the student assistants work habits and ensure that they are following proceduresKeep up with Reference Librarian schedule on availability to assist patronsAssist patron’s with printers and scanningAssist patrons with ILL requestsAssist student assistants in getting their ID badge and ensure that they have access to the library after hoursWhen the supervisor is out, make sure that the office runs as smoothly as possibleCall vendor on issues we may be experiencing with the vending machineNotify supervisor when there is a problem in circulation that needs attentionUpdate patron records in KOHACustomer service issuesHandles lighting, elevator, security gate issuesMaintain room reservation for studentsMaintain Libchat for patron assistanceCheck out headset and chargers for laptops for students useAssists with daily activities Wednesday-Sunday in the Public Services area under the guidance of the Unit Manager. Required QualificationsHigh school plus 4 years experience. Additional education may substitute on a year for year basis.Preferred Qualifications5 years of office administrative work experience. Bachelor's degree in general business or related field.
