Composite Wood Panel Process EngineerThe Composite Wood Panel Process Engineer will function as a technical resource for the three interior door facing production lines. The Composite Wood Panel Process Engineer will collaborate with operations, research & development, and quality departments to optimize the manufacturing of interior door facings. This position will report directly to the Plant Quality Manager and will support the Interior Operations Leader and their team.Key ResponsibilitiesPrioritize safety in daily activities and process changesChampion quality improvement initiativesMonitor and optimize critical to customer physical and aesthetic propertiesOwn the production line trial process and work in conjunction with R&D teamsMonitor process KPIs and identify opportunities for improvementDrive continuous improvement efforts to increase efficiency and throughputLead root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality defectsChampion lean manufacturing initiatives and cost reduction effortsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in mechanical or chemical engineering, wood science, or a related field of studyMinimum of 2 years of experience in a wood product manufacturing process, 3 to 5 years preferredExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailStrong project management and organizational skillsAbility to work collaboratively with cross-functional teamsEffective communication and leadership skillsKnowledge of lean manufacturing principlesExperience RequirementsWood products manufacturing experience from one or more of the following industries or related fields:MDF, HDF, or Hardboard ManufacturingParticleboard ManufacturingOSB (Oriented Strand Board) ManufacturingPlywood ManufacturingEngineered Wood Products ManufacturingForest Products ManufacturingBuilding Materials ManufacturingCompression molding experience Hydraulic press experienceProduction line trial experience: planning and executionKnowledge, Skills And AbilitiesProficient in data analysis through use of Excel and Minitab or similar toolsWorking knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologiesProficient in root cause analysis and corrective action processesExperience utilizing Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologiesFamiliarity with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE) and process optimization techniquesAbility to lead cross-functional continuous improvement initiativesDemonstrated ability to drive measured improvement in key areas of operationsStrong technical knowledge and process capabilitiesBusiness and financial acumenStrong critical thinking and analytical skillsStrong communication skills – comfortable engaging all levels of the organizationHigh level of resourcefulness and creativityStrong integrityComfortable managing high levels of complexityVersatile and innovative mindsetStrong prioritization skillsAbout Owens CorningOwens Corning is a branded building products leader with three complementary market-leading businesses providing roofing, insulation, and doors primarily for residential markets in North America and Europe.
