Clinical Medical Assistant TITLE: Medical Assistant Classification:DEPARTMENT: CLINICALNon-exemptReports to: Clinical Manager Position Summary: The primary role of the Medical Assistant is to support medical providers, patients and co-workers through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication in an accurate and timely manner. There is a $500 sign on bonus. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerforms duties necessary to prepare patients for physician exam including:Vitals and lab testsUpdating patient medical records in electronic medical record systemAssists providers with proceduresMaintains patient areas by daily sanitization and supply restockingAuthorizes prescription refills as directed by providersPerforms proper sanitization and sterilization of medical instrumentsProcesses lab specimens obtained by providersProvides patient education as needed Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge Requirements Basic medical assistant skills such asKnowledge of HIPAAKnowledge of OSHA and Universal Precautions for blood borne pathogensMedical terminologyVital signsExcellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize workAbility to type 35 wpm and have knowledge of EMR system and functionalityGood verbal and written communicationPunctual and self-disciplinedMaintain CPR certification Physical Demands/Working ConditionsWalking and standing for long periods of time.Frequent use of keyboard, computer and telephone requires hand and manual dexterityHeavy lifting may be required when assisting patients onto and off of the exam table, pushing patients in a wheelchair and lifting and carrying of supplies on a regular basis.
