Job Summary*Nights - every other weekend, every other holiday**Shift differential*Essential FunctionsUtilize assessment skills and evidence-based triage guidelines for triage of healthy, as well as acutely or chronically ill or injured members, including pediatric, adult, maternity, and geriatric membersUtilize provided training, skills and evidence-based triage guidelines to assess and assist members experiencing behavioral health challenges and crises.Function as patient advocate by facilitating accessibility to healthcare and provide linkage to other CareSource departmentsEducate patients about their health conditions, treatment options, and preventive care measures.Assess health status and direct members to the most appropriate level of careUtilize critical reasoning in clinical decision-makingInform callers of preventative healthcare measures dueIdentify and refer appropriate members for Care ManagementProvide information about benefits, services and programs that allows members to maximize healthcare resources, as neededManage telephone interactions with compassion and respect for cultural, educational and psychosocial differences of individualsManage crisis situations effectively, providing appropriate resources and referrals to callers in distress.Utilize multiple computer applications to document all information in an accurate mannerPractice in compliance with AAACN, URAC and NCQA standards and regulatory requirementsKeep abreast of trends in healthcare delivery and managed careParticipate in departmental activities such as quality audits, preceptorship/training as neededMaintains and contributes to a collaborative professional and ethical work environment.Provide support during times of emergent or critical staffing needsPerforms any other job related duties as requested.Education And ExperienceAssociates degree in Nursing requiredBachelor's degree in Nursing preferredThree (3) years progressive clinical experience as an RN requiredTriage, Emergency Nursing, Critical Care, or acute care experience within the past 3 years is strongly preferredBehavioral Health experience preferredTelephone Triage in a call center setting preferredCompetencies, Knowledge And SkillsStrong computer skillsStrong clinical assessment skillsStrong communication skillsAbility to work independently and within a team environmentAttention to DetailCritical listening and thinking skillsDecision making/problem solving skillsProper phone etiquetteCustomer service orientedBroad base of clinical knowledgeTeaching skillsAbility to remain calm under pressure and in member life threatening situationsAbility to apply multiple communicative skills while utilizing available tools and resources simultaneouslyExemplify CareSource’s Mission in our behavior and member interactionsLicensure And CertificationCurrent, unrestricted RN licensure in state of practice requiredMulti-state RN licensure preferredAbility to obtain licensure by endorsement in non-compact states when applicableWorking ConditionsGeneral office environment; may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of timeTravel is not typically requiredCompensation Range$62,700.00 - $100,400.00 CareSource takes into consideration a combination of a candidate’s education, training, and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required for the role, and other external and internal data when establishing a salary level.
