System (RDBMS)Mastery • SQL Server Database Admin: MasteryPreferred Skills: • AWS Infrastructure.Responsibilities:We are seeking a Sr. DBA with strong hands-on experience managing enterprise relational databases in AWS environments.The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in IBM Db2, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and AWS RDS, along with a track record of supporting complex, business-critical systems.This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can guide a team of DBAs, set operating standards, and take full ownership of outcomes.The right candidate will not wait for direction. They will lead from the front, anticipate risks, challenge inefficient approaches, and drive issues through to resolution.Key Responsibilities: Administer, maintain, and support enterprise database platforms across AWS and hybrid environments, including IBM Db2, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and AWS RDS.Responsibilities include installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, migrations, capacity planning, monitoring, performance tuning, and day-to-day operational support.Ensure the availability, reliability, security, and performance of critical database systems.Troubleshoot complex incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive actions to reduce repeat issues.Manage backup, restore, recovery, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery processes. Support recovery testing and help ensure database platforms meet service-level, resilience, and recovery requirements.Partner with application, infrastructure, cloud, security, engineering, and service management teams on technical design, architecture decisions, change planning, operational readiness, and delivery of database solutions.Lead and mentor other DBAs by setting priorities, coordinating work, reviewing technical approaches, and promoting consistent standards and practices.Provide clear direction during incidents, upgrades, migrations, and other high-impact activities. Identify opportunities to automate routine administration, improve monitoring, strengthen controls, standardize processes, and increase operational efficiency.Support database security, access management, documentation, governance, compliance, and audit-related activities.Required Qualifications: Extensive hands-on DBA experience in complex enterprise environments with strong practical expertise in IBM Db2, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and AWS RDS. Experience should include configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, backup and recovery, patching, upgrades, and migrations.Experience supporting mission-critical systems with demanding availability, performance, security, and recovery requirements in AWS environments.Ability to diagnose issues across databases, applications, operating systems, networks, and cloud infrastructure.Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, or coordinating database professionals.Strong technical judgment, accountability, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.Self-directed, proactive, and comfortable working in ambiguous or fast-moving environments.Preferred Qualifications:Experience supporting large-scale, highly available, or regulated environments. Familiarity with database automation, scripting, cloud operations, infrastructure monitoring, IT service management, and formal change-control processes.Experience with AWS database services beyond Amazon RDS, cloud migration, infrastructure as code, and hybrid database environments is a plus.What Success Looks Like: Success in this role means stable, secure, resilient, and high-performing database platforms, along with a well-supported DBA team and strong operational discipline.The successful candidate will resolve complex issues efficiently, communicate clearly during incidents, identify root causes, and drive continuous improvement across the database estate.
