Cloud and Container Engineer (Contract, 100% Remote)

Optomi, in partnership with a leader in the electric cooperative/utility space, is seeking a Cloud and Container Engineer for a one-year contract engagement. This role will provide operational support for AWS and Amazon EKS production workloads, partnering closely with development teams to drive secure, scalable cloud delivery.Core Responsibilities:Provide ongoing operational support and maintenance for AWS cloud platforms and Amazon EKS workloads, ensuring reliability and performance in line with SLAsSupport application teams in adopting AWS services through practical guidance, reusable patterns, automation, and documentationPartner with IT stakeholders on high-level solution designs, ensuring alignment with strategic direction, standards, and policiesContribute to defining and maintaining architectural and technology standards across the organizationResearch emerging technologies and present findings/recommendations to IT stakeholdersCreate and maintain documentation of technology, governance, policies, and standardsCollaborate on future-state technology roadmaps aligned with strategic objectivesApply today if your background includes:8+ years of overall IT-related experience5+ years of experience building, deploying, and managing solutions in AWS1+ years of experience developing, deploying, and managing workloads on Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, or GKE)AWS Certified Solutions Architect (required)Experience with Docker, Helm Charts, and ArgoCDExperience with IaC tools such as CloudFormation or CDKExperience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, TeamCity, or JenkinsStrong written and verbal communication skills
