With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality commercial construction projects throughout Central Texas, the company is experiencing significant growth and is seeking a Controller to help scale the accounting function and support continued expansion.This is an opportunity to join a leadership team that values collaboration, accountability, and operational excellence while providing the autonomy to build and develop your own accounting team.Position SummaryThe Controller will lead all accounting and financial operations for the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, effective cash management, and robust project accounting practices. This individual will partner closely with executive leadership and operations teams to drive financial performance and support strategic growth initiatives.The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in construction accounting, a hands-on leadership style, and experience managing financial operations within a general contracting environment.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and financial reportingLead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processesPrepare and review financial statements and management reporting packagesManage project accounting, job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognitionMonitor project profitability and collaborate with operations teams to identify risks and opportunitiesOversee cash flow management, forecasting, and banking relationshipsDevelop annual budgets and periodic forecastsEstablish and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policiesCoordinate annual audits and tax compliance activitiesDrive process improvements and implement scalable accounting procedures to support growthRecruit, mentor, and develop accounting staff as the organization continues to expandServe as a strategic business partner to ownership and executive leadershipQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or FinanceCPA preferredConstruction industry experience is required8+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership responsibilitiesStrong knowledge of job costing, WIP schedules, construction contracts, retainage accounting, and revenue recognitionExperience within a general contractor, commercial construction, or project-based environmentProven track record of leading accounting teams and improving processesExperience with construction ERP systems preferredStrong analytical, organizational, and communication skillsWhy This Opportunity?Construction experience is valued and will be highly visible to leadershipOpportunity to build and lead your own accounting teamGrowing company with a strong project backlog and expansion plansDirect interaction with ownership and executive leadershipAbility to make a lasting impact on processes, systems, and team structureExcellent long-term career growth potential within a thriving organization
