Biological Science Technician – Biotechnician I

We are ISO 13485:2016 certified and specialize in mono and polyclonal antibody manufacturing for IVD, IHC, and pharma/biotech applications.
SDIX is looking for a full-time Biotechnician I, to join our production teams in Newark, DE.
This position will support our Custom Critical Reagent groups.
Job Summary:
The role supports the overall GMP downstream manufacturing process, in the production of polyclonal antibodies by executing protocols, utilizing basic knowledge of biology and chemistry. Maintain laboratory in proper working order through organization and procurement of supplies, routine maintenance of laboratory equipment, column packing, organization and maintenance of reagents and general laboratory hygiene.
The Biotechnician I is primarily responsible for the manufacturing aspects of SDIX’s products by executing standard operating procedures (SOP) while utilizing basic knowledge of biology and chemistry, laboratory equipment, and the use of computer software.
The technician is also responsible for maintaining the work area in proper working order by keeping the area organized, perform routine maintenance of equipment, managing reagents and chemicals, and keeping general laboratory hygiene.
The successful candidate:
Perform a variety of basic laboratory and production techniques such as buffer preparation or aseptic handling of products for final packaging.
Maintain accurate and current documentation using Mater Batch Records or various SOPs in a cGMP environment.
Communicate with peers and supervisors both verbally and in writing regarding results or processes.
Maintain and organize work area including ordering supplies to maintain an efficient workflow.
Ability to lift or move 50 pounds and work/travel throughout production environment of varying temperatures and humidity.
Grasp and hold small objects, through a full range of motion, while wearing personal protective devices.
Ability to recognize variances in processes, procedures, and results. Document the variances.
Perform additional job duties necessary within manufacturing areas as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Biotechnician I
BS/BA degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry or related field such as immunology or equivalent industry experience (will consider candidates with a related Associate degree with two or more years of equivalent industry experience)
0 to 3 years related experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment
Computer literate- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Basic understanding of lab operations
Proficient with basic laboratory equipment and procedures required for the specific job (balance, pH meter, sterile technique, dilution plating, etc.)
Good written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with standard operating procedures
· Familiarity with Quality System Regulation (QSR), cGMP, and ISO regulations and guidelines (optional)
Work Environment:
At SDIX LLC our work environment varies significantly from job to job. Candidates must be able to lift or move 35 pounds and work/travel throughout environments of varied temperatures and humidity; grasp and hold small objects and have a full range of motion while wearing personal protective devices. This position may expose the employee to fumes or airborne particles, biohazards, and toxic or caustic chemicals. Daily contact with employees in other departments is required.
