Quality Engineer
JOB SUMMARY:
The Quality Engineer works with the Quality, Production, Engineering, Customer Service and Purchasing teams to plan and carry out the quality activities necessary for Sur-Seal to maintain efficient and high-quality production. The Quality Engineer is involved with all aspects of quality, including new product development, in-house process quality, supplier quality and customer quality. Problem solving is a major function performed by the QE, including root cause investigation, countermeasure development and implementation and communication of RCCA results to interested parties. The QE also represents Sur-Seal in customer and ISO audits, supporting the efforts of the Director of Quality.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analysis
o Perform root cause analysis, and develop and implement countermeasures for internal, supplier and customer quality issues.
o Participate in capability studies, certification reviews, internal audits and SPC studies.
o Understand ISO 9001 & 13485 requirements, and assist with third party audits.
o Investigate audit-related findings and coordinate activities to resolve issues.
o Development PPAP documentation, including process flow diagrams, control plans, PFMEA’s and other quality control documents.
o Support and administer the new product development process.
o Interpret and read blueprints, using metrology instruments (micrometers, calipers, etc.).
Inspection
o Develop plans for inspection, testing and other evaluations of incoming goods.
o Provide instruction to, and support the activities of, the quality inspection team.
o Review/analyze inspection results, and oversee the disposition of suspect items with affected suppliers and customers.
o Other duties as assigned by the Director of Quality.
Communication
o Effectively communicate with customers to ensure all product and quality system requirements are met.
o Effectively communicate Sur-Seal requirements to suppliers, and lead supplier quality problem resolution.
o Establish and grow effective relationships with all areas within Sur-Seal.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s degree preferred, but a combination of technical training, work experience and other certifications will be considered.
· Two years of experience in a manufacturing environment, quality experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
· Computer skills, and working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
o Strong verbal and written communication skills.
o Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to resolve conflicting interests and reach consensus.
Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year

Experience:
Manufacturing engineering: 2 years (Preferred)
German automotive : 1 year (Preferred)
