OverviewWe are seeking a Civil Engineer with site development experience to join a growing engineering team focused on civil design, land development, and municipal infrastructure projects. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects from concept through construction in a collaborative, hands-on environment.This is an excellent fit for a mid-level engineer (3+ years of experience) ready to step into greater responsibility across design, coordination, and project delivery.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and support civil/site design projects from concept through constructionDevelop and review grading, drainage, stormwater, utility, and site development plansPerform engineering calculations and ensure compliance with local, state, and municipal standardsPrepare construction plan sets and support permitting and approval processesCoordinate with land surveyors, planners, clients, and municipal agenciesSupport construction-phase engineering and respond to review commentsRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE required; ABET-accredited preferred)3+ years of civil engineering experience in site development or land developmentProficiency in AutoCAD (AutoCAD Civil 3D strongly preferred)Experience producing civil engineering drawings and construction plan setsKnowledge of grading, drainage, stormwater, and utility design principlesStrong communication and coordination skillsPreferred ExperienceExperience with commercial, residential, municipal, or industrial site development projectsFamiliarity with municipal permitting and plan review processesExposure to hydrology/hydraulics tools (e.g., HydroCAD, StormCAD, HEC-RAS, or similar)Experience working in small to mid-sized consulting engineering firmsEIT certification or progress toward PE licensureTechnical SkillsAutoCAD / Civil 3D (surface modeling, grading, alignments, earthwork)Site grading, drainage, and stormwater designUtility layout (water, sanitary, storm systems)Construction document production for municipal submittalsEngineering calculations and regulatory complianceLocation & Work EnvironmentOn-site role based in Wheeling, IL (Chicago NW suburbs)Typical commute range: 20–40 minutes from surrounding suburbs (e.g., Arlington Heights, Schaumburg, Des Plaines, Buffalo Grove, Mount Prospect)Local candidates preferred due to the on-site nature of the roleWhy Join UsWork on full-cycle civil/site development projects with direct impact on design decisions, permitting outcomes, and construction execution.
