Engineering TechnicianLocation: Chantilly, VirginiaJob Type: Full-Time | OnsiteWork Schedule: 9/80 (Every other Friday off)Work Environment100% onsite in Chantilly, VA (Dulles area facilities)Precision lab / manufacturing / defense environmentHands-on technical role supporting photonics and system integrationRequires working with sensitive equipment and high-quality standardsThe Engineering Technician C supports fabrication, assembly, integration, and testing of photonic and precision components within a defense environment. This role requires strong hands-on technical skills, the ability to interpret engineering drawings, and experience working with machining or lab equipment.Candidates from electronics, mechanical, optical, or manufacturing backgrounds are encouraged, with on-the-job training provided for photonics-specific skills .Key ResponsibilitiesFabrication & AssemblyPerform precision assembly, fabrication, and inspection of componentsExecute tasks such as:Optical fiber splicing and recoatingPhotonic circuit assemblyMechanical builds and solderingTesting & IntegrationIntegrate optical and electronic equipment (power meters, laser sources, etc.)Perform system testing and validationAssist with calibration procedures and equipment setupTechnical OperationsInterpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical instructionsOperate machining tools (lathes, mills, CNC)Maintain lab equipment (wire bonding, photomasking, epoxy systems)Quality & MaintenanceEnsure preventative maintenance and calibration complianceMaintain clean, organized, and controlled workspacesFollow strict quality, safety, and documentation standardsCollaborationWork closely with engineering and production teamsCommunicate progress, issues, and quality metrics to leadershipMust-Have QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent6+ years of relevant experience ORAssociate's Degree + 2+ years of experienceActive TS/SCI with CI Poly Clearance (Mandatory)Experience with:Engineering drawings & technical documentationLab / manufacturing / assembly environmentsMachining tools (lathe, mill, CNC) or similarPreferred QualificationsExperience with photonics or optical systemsBackground in electronics, mechanical systems, or precision assemblyExperience in DoD lab / workshop environmentsFamiliarity with fiber optics, optical alignment, or laser systemsCore SkillsPrecision Assembly & FabricationEngineering Drawings InterpretationLab & Manufacturing OperationsOptical / Photonics Systems (preferred)Machining & Tooling (CNC, lathe, mill)Testing & CalibrationQuality Control & ComplianceTechnical TroubleshootingRecruiter Submission TemplateFull Name:Highest Education (HS / Associate / Technical Degree) with Details:Do you have an active TS/SCI with CI Poly Clearance?
