Election Board WorkerCoconino County offers temporary on-call positions for Election Board Workers. These roles do not include benefits. Terms of employment vary depending on job duties, including training and pre-election meetings. Wages range based on position, and training will be provided once selected. Election Board Workers will work up to four weeks prior to Election Day and up to two weeks after Election Day at the Coconino County Elections Facility. Responsibilities include: Counting Board:Responsible for running ballot batches through tabulation machines, balancing and accounting for each ballot, separating damaged ballots, sealing ballots, and securing ballot containers. Duplication Board:Responsible for duplicating damaged ballots onto new ballots, printing new ballots, assigning unique numbers to original and duplicate ballots, transposing votes from damaged ballots, logging duplicated ballots, and storing original ballots. Short-term roles include: Inspector:Team leader at polling locations, responsible for delegating tasks, ensuring voters can cast their ballots privately and securely, communicating with polling location owners, welcoming party observers, and reporting issues. Ballot and Provisional Judge:Assists voters with ballots, accessible voting equipment, and curbside voting; assists with provisional and conditional voting process. Marshal:Responsible for preserving order at the polls, managing line during high-volume cycles, opening and closing activities, assessing and reporting voter wait times. Clerks:Backup to Ballot and Provisional Judges, assist voters as directed by the Inspector, and assist in Marshal duties as needed. Troubleshooter:Supports technical or logistical issues at polling locations, including de-escalation, troubleshooting Ballot-on-Demand printer, assisting with challenges, and similar unique and complex issues. Ballot-on-Demand Operators:Support technical or logistical deployment at vote centers related to the Ballot-on-Demand printer. The Receiving Board is responsible for accepting all ballots and election materials on Election Night after the polls close, verifying ballot chain of custody, accounting for Official and Unofficial Returns, and filing all required paperwork from each site. Essential functions include walking, sitting, lifting and carrying (1-50 lbs) of files, supplies, and mail; pushing/pulling carts, doors, filing cabinets (1-50 lbs); climbing stairs; working with interruptions; repetitive motion (hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder) for telephone, typing, filing, etc.; vision acuity (near and far) for writing, typing, and dealing with staff and the public; hearing and speech for ordinary conversation; finger dexterity for typing, writing, filing, etc. Minimum qualifications include being 16 years or older, a registered voter in Coconino County, working well in a team environment, upholding the County's Elections Board Workers code of ethics, and passing a background check for some positions. Working conditions include assisting voters while upholding the County's standards and expectations, extensive work hours, and additional training prior to Election Day.
