Catholic School PrincipalThe principal fulfills the mission of the Catholic school by serving as the spiritual, instructional, and managerial leader of the school. He or she is responsible for the implementation of the mission, philosophy, objectives, and overall management of the school. As administrator of the school, the principal is also responsible for the professional effectiveness of the faculty and staff, the educational progress of the students, as well as the relationship within the entire school community. Essential functions include supporting and upholding the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school, acting as a witness to the Gospel values, developing a school climate reflecting Catholic identity, developing and administering school programs consistent with Archdiocesan goals and objectives, providing leadership and direction to staff, promoting a school environment that is safe and conducive to individualized instruction, promoting Catholic identity within the school, ensuring that policies and procedures are implemented and followed, maintaining the accreditation of the school, overseeing the certification of religion teachers, responsible for the development and management of the annual school budget, fostering collaboration between parish(es), pastor(s), and the school, implementing and reviewing long-range strategic planning, demonstrating professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits, maintaining a work schedule that maximizes availability to the school, students and staff, providing for an orderly school environment and promoting student self-discipline, participating in professional development, maintaining confidentiality regarding school matters, communicating effectively with students, parents, and other professionals, working collaboratively with parent organizations in supporting the students, faculty and staff of the school, working closely with pastor and parish staff around mission, facility usage, and financial management, maintaining and fostering relations with donors of the school, promoting enrollment efforts to grow the school community, leading and supporting teacher growth and instructional improvement, coordinating the work of school staff and campus leaders to develop and implement instructional programs and teaching practices, conducting ongoing assessment of student learning and working with teaching staff to modify instructional methods to fit students' needs, coordinating with the Catholic Schools Office in recruitment and selection of employees, the proper maintenance of employee personnel files, corrective action, and other human resource issues, involving staff in the evaluation of programs and the planning of new programs, ensuring that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and archdiocesan policies, organizing and managing the budgetary and financial affairs of the school consistent with archdiocesan policies.
